Nearly useless because once you find the person of question it becomes a station game if you are the cut breed who likes to see his opponent venting atmosphere and sucking vacume.

Only the more nefarious underhanded do things evil at a corproate desk can make a locator agent deadly useful.

perhaps we cut to the chase and you tell us what you think about them
obviously you have an opinion or you wouldn't have posted this recon thread before making your point.

They're dumb.

They substitute doing actual scouting and work by paying a nominal fee. Reminds me of local in lowsec/null.

Locators, in enough numbers, can be very useful and some what accurate.

However, they're not perfect intel and have limitations. Their limitations are sufficient enough to categorize them as almost useless if the expectation is to immediately id someone's current location and expecting them to still be there when you arrive.

As for your comment about them being a substitute for real intel. No they are not. They're just one piece of the intel picture. If you're collecting intel on people you'd be crazy not to use them because of some self-important theory about what intel should be. You'd also be crazy if you relied upon them for all your intel.

I never said they were a replacement to real intel, I merely said that they were substitutes in a pinch.

Well, they're perfectly suited to finding scammerers, or anyone who is an "inconvienience" to you. So they go against the whole thing of "Freedom" by allowing enemies to actually know your location/general whereabouts..

And intel should be gathered in person, not by NPC's, it goes against the spirit of the game.

Good to find players. Hard to find locator agents. Need a locator agent to find a locator agent.

Locators are a good feature. I would do more with the mechanic though. Maybe have them give incorrect information often with speed and accuracy increasing as your standings increase with the agent's corporation. Stuff like that.

I was under the impression that as your standings increase the speed does increase and as the agent level increases so does the range.

Open webpage

In search menu select Locator yes

Press enter

Well done you have found all the locator agents.

No, you didnt say they were a replacement to real intel, but you sure as hell implied it. But neither did you say that "they were substitutes in a pinch". Fail.

- "Well, they're perfectly suited to finding scammerers, or anyone who is an "inconvienience" to you. So they go against the whole thing of "Freedom" by allowing enemies to actually know your location/general whereabouts.."

What is this "thing of Freedom" you talk about? You are playing an MMORPG, there is nothing in the EULA that says anything about player "Freedom" in the game. Do you mean freedom from being found by your enemies? If so, you are definitely in the wrong game.

- "And intel should be gathered in person, not by NPC's, it goes against the spirit of the game."

Why do you think you have the right to tell other payers how EVE should and shouldn't be played?
And what is this "spirit of the game" you talk about? Cant seem to find any mention by CCP about what this is.

Methinks you are talking out of that hole on the rear side of your lower body, again.

They're silly. And threacherous. If I have far better standing than my enemy why do they still betray me, their "best friend"?
For every +1.0 difference in corp standing they should charge +10 million for information.

I dunno, perhaps put information about an agents abilities (such as location services) as a searchable feature in... wait for it... the Agent Finder located in your cozy CQ.

Just a silly thought.

I think Locator agents should be buffed up. They should cost more and give you continuous feedback on player's actions for a period of time, as in "in system A" jumped to system B etc ... OR CCP should add something that allows players easier access to this information so we can do it ourselves.

I always use alts to scout potential targets before deccing them so most of the time I already know where my targets are.

OP looks like a whine so I would just like to say that locator agents can also be used to help people avoid a fight.

They're wonderful for hi-sec wars... just send your alt up to wherever "Mr Pubbie McHiSec" is missioning and wait on gate for them in their agent system in some bastard ship and when they jump in. probably holding beer and pizza IRL, you will be all like BAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAAHA. True story, brahs.

This is an old tool, kinda onerous to use but very powerful >if< you can figure it out. Just remember some information is outdated. Like everything else in Eve, it's not perfect.

Eve Explorer

You can locate locators with it, how many jumps they are from your current location. I love to use it for the purposes that I do. It's a shame that it's not being updated.
