I have a, uh, friend who lives in Europe, but might have made a slight mistake when creating his amazon.com account and entered an American address.

Now, he asked me what would happen if he bought game time on amazon for U.S. currency and linked his amazon account to his european Eve account. He also wonders how to claim plex bought from amazon, do you get a code or are they redeemable on your Eve account?

On my friends behalf I thank you in advance for any and all replies. Merry Christmas

Afaik EvE accounts are not regionalised, i.e. theres no such thing as a "european EvE account"

She may/may not get screwed in the exchange rate, though

Well my friend usually pays his subscription in euros, while amazon would be in dollars. So the exchange rate would be in his favor.

well my friend is concerned that it might not work or it's a bannable offense, circumventing unfair price tags.

I was joking. Just contact Amazon and get them to move her account to the Euro one. Sorted.

AFAIK CCP doesn't care where the money comes from, game time is game time. Think of it like this, is it bannable if your, uh, friend, was to continue a sub with a plex I purchased in the US for them?

To be 100% sure you could petition it, but really, game time is game time, CCP gets paid either way.

Well this way they'd get paid slightly less, but I agree with your reasoning

CCP wouldn't care, and unless your friend is spending a TON of money on eve, the government probably wouldn't bother with hunting him/her down for the VAT tax he/she avoided

Well it's done. If I don't reply to this thread with results it means, uh, my friend has been caught.

the only reason why he put US adress is to not pay VAT tax (we got it in Europe) and it wasnt 'by mistake' :)

What might happen is that Amazon contacts y... err your friend or voids the order since they might see the activity as the result of a successful hacker attack. An... er... similar friend of mine got an alarming email from them and the order was cancelled, but after some clarification the next order went through.
