Spend years training for one, only to have the server cough up hairballs when you actually get a chance to use one... kinda defeats the purpose for some people.

Any of the capital ships I have owned stay docked, with the carriers occasionally serving as gimped jump freighters. I'm trying to figure out if I can make them into decorative tables.

Well that's a stupid thing to say. If anything, the barrier to entry of capitals reduces 10% TiDi node crashing gameplay in that fewer people have them and so fewer people will have them in system. Thus, less TiDi.

ahahahaha you put "capitals" and "barrier of entry" in the same sentence

That's the old way of thinking. The new way of thinking way of thinking is blob capitals

elite pvp is an archon blob

Except all the people that can't fly them will just be in other ships? Thus no effect on TiDi.

aaa nope. capitals are the core of 0.0 warfare for lik e8 years and will continue to be. At the very end of an escalation, its always about the capitals and super capitals.

Except carriers and supers have an even greater effect on server load than any subcap.

I hate capitals because I live in highsec and if my friends are going out to roam in lowsec, they can't compete with capitals, so i hate lowsec and nullsec, they have better ships than my friends

You can easily compete with lone capitals.
Competing with 250 spider tanked drone assist carriers is another story.

super elite PVP is someone on some stream explaining how to crash the node by doing stuff not fighting related and then get banned for it. Ow and also 1000 megathrons.

Other topics I remember:

- TEH BLOB!
- Incursions
- FW (sometimes in combination with WC-stabs)

I surely forgot some.

Yeah it really sucks when somebody brings so many of X that you can't even engage them and have a good brawl.

I guess there's absolutely nothing ironic about this situation. Nope, nothing at all.

There isn't, because we use subcaps which have a variety of tactics which can be successfully applied against them, even when we outnumber our enemies significantly. The slowcat blob, on the other hand, only really has two counters - a Naglfar blob or a titan blob. No ship class in EVE is supposed to be that impervious to all classes below it.

At one point, back when I was with the ASCN and there were only a couple of Titans in game (one less after we suffered the first Titan loss in the EVE :( ), and nobody used motherships (super carriers), it was all about who had the most dreads. ;)

And further before that, who had the most battleships.

What's the counter to 1000 megas? Bombers and...?

Nothing.

Slowcats though have two hard counters that both work excellently (as well as being vulnerable to bombers, celestis fleets, drag bubbles and DBRB node crashes). What's better is you can kill slowcats when outnumbered too! Is it unfair that you need to commit 200 capitals to kill 300?

If you're still upset about the lack of good counters, how about we start a campaign to buff titans and supercarriers to be better able to kill slowcats? I think that would satisfy everybody. Alternatively you could just use long range dreads like you're already doing, and killing slowcats like you're already doing. Just putting it out there.
