CCP has an advert for lead programmer on their jobs section if you think you can solve all their latency problems so easily.

No? I didn't think so.

Just because I don't have a solution to the problem doesn't mean I should keep quiet about there being a problem.
Your mentality makes no sense - are we supposed to pretend that the problem doesn't exist unless we know how to solve it right away?

Looks like CCP is liking mini-games, with the new exploration and all. How about make fleet fights a mini-game, like Risk. Then you take turns, and whomever turn it is, they can shoot someone and so on. Lol

Just give preferential treatment (ie more CPU time) to the fleet spamming local more.

No, I'm just saying that- and this may come as a surprise to you- this is a known problem and it's being worked on- no amount of whining or raising visibility will make it get fixed any faster.

If you do have expertise in that area, I'm sure CCP would love to hire you.

Actually, there isn't much a programmer could do about this, unless they happen to be sitting on some magical new techniques for dealing with server load that increases quadratically, and in that case, they almost certainly have better employment options.

Short of some amazing breakthroughs in computer science, lag-free, tidi-free multi-thousand-person fights probably aren't in the cards, and even if their load reduction efforts bear fruit, the end result will probably just be massive fights that pack **** into the system until it reaches the new breaking point.

You could potentially solve it as a design problem. Current conquest mechanics encourage 1k+ pop fights. I've always found it a bit silly and uninteresting, from a design perspective, that sov wars are effectively fought one-massive-battle at a time instead of across an entire battle line of systems simultaneously. Conquest mechanics that encouraged several hundred-man scale battles could be effectively load-balanced, while thousand-plus person battles simply cannot be because math.

Clearly the solution is to switch off the servers altogether.

No game, no lag, no problem!

Delay local. Problem solved.

Not seeing how that would fix anything that is broken in nullsec. In fact it would make nullsec worse...

How much herp could a herp derp derp if a herp derp could herp derp.

Solution is limit one system to a number of pilots

Then as they die and get podded or leave the system on their own, more people can jump through..

Done, solved.

What if an FC is an incredible strategic genius like me and thinks of the cunning scheme of packing out the system to the limit with friendly pilots?

Beat me to it.
