Solution to broken bounty system - INSIDE

Make it a choice to choose be a bounty hunter where:

- Could attack and kill everyone with a bounty anywhere
- Could be attack by everyone with a bounty anywhere


Also make it so we can only put a bounty on people with negative security status.

Done, solved.

How is it broken?
Why are you trying to break it by intermixing to completely unrelated mechanics (cromewatch and bounties)?
What is the problem you're trying to solve?

Could be linked to bounty variables based on security standings?

How it would work:

For every 1.0 of positive security, bounties against you are refunded back at a rate of, say, 10% per month (based on original value) if not collected. That way people who keep their noses clean can eventually lose their bounties without having to suicide fifty times.

Meanwhile, for those in the hole, the max payout per ship % goes up as security goes down, again by 10% per 1.0. So if you blap someone at full -10.0 then you'd get 100% of their ship value (assuming their bounty is high enough to cover that). Gives more incentive to go after them, yes?

I approve of this new method of bounty hunting.

Far too long have I had this bounty with my positive sec status.

Bounties should a contract type not a random free for all. A single contract can be accepted any number of times but only filled in once. Contract specifies how much ISK a kill must be worth to be valid and can restrict accepting of the contract by individual standing, corporation, individual, alliance, security rating or even faction/NPC corp relation.

Similar with killrights. Anyone can accept a contract to buy a killright but it only gets filled when you use it, provided you have the ISK. restrictions can be applied as above.

Then it could be a profession.

In essence any player can attack any other player*) anywhere and at any time while undocked in a ship with at least one offensive module fitted.
As this is neither a proposal for a feature or a new idea, this thread gets a lock.

*)If the player in question has a bounty or not is actually irrelevant and in some parts of New Eden there might be consequences. Like Concord wanting to have a 'chat'.
