Update to the Launcher and the repair tool - Fix inside!

So I reactivated my account after a long hiatus.

Downloaded the new client, installed it.

Had a lot of grief trying to get the client to run from the launcher screen.

Am running a Windows 7 rig, am reasonably proficient in computers so I can troubleshoot most issues on my own.

Spent a good hour trying to work out why the game wouldn't connect. Firewall was fine, everything looked okay but still couldn't get out of the damned launcher screen. I can login with my account, but the "Play" button is greyed out.

Tried loading eve.exe directly, sends me to the launcher screen. Huh.


Lo an behold, I finally found the solution. Right click on Eve (launcher/exe doesn't matter) and run as administrator. Everything now works fine. Huh.

Navigate to the c:\program files\ccp\bin\and use the eve.exe in that bin folder and that avoids using the launcher to log in.

I get the error "target payload not found" when installing the game.I've manually downloaded it 3 times today,all same error even though the files are in the same directory as instructed.This is very frustrating.This all stems from a problem I was having trying to get Singularity to work again.I decided to reinstall the game not realizing it was going to break it completely.

god damnit this stup0id ******* **** keeps deleting my post cause it says no html well how the **** am i sapposed to give you my repair report?!!? this is fuckling bullshit 3 ******* hours doing nothing but trying to fix your ******* game that i have 3 fgucking accounts that i pay for not plex pay for! I want to play my game its bad enough 2 characters of mine now have no skills training....
can i pleasae get some help, ive done almost everything in all these forums and nothing is working for me i open launcher click play it says launching then nothing happens goes back to play

now after the last time i repaired i load the launcher and now its got a broken picture symbol on the bottom and is all white except for the top and bottom borders, so i can't even see anything to type in name or password now :( I'm so frustrated with this thing it isnt even funny

Can you screenshot it for me, and copy the logs to pastebin too? You'll find them in the launcher\cache directory inside your EVE installation. Thanks!

Well i guess **** me and my skills and my game. I'm hoping to get a response to my ticket by tomorrow if not i might as well unsub as all 3 accounts need a renew this week. This game is amazing but someone how i keep getting ****** and its never by other players

again this is where repair is stuck

The only last launcher I get is 655130, and it fails after 40% of patching or something...

After eset nod 32 protocol filtering in advanced setup was disabled, repair started to work...lets see till it finishes.

EDIT: finaly. why odesnt CCP work with antivirus companies to remove issues!!!

I've tried really hard to understand the difference between CCP's definition of an "expansion" and a general patch release. And now I finally understand it! "Expansions" is where the auto updater hangs up or bugs out during installation, so that you can only get the game working with the repair tool. Not to be confused with patches, where the updater actually works.

Error during repair. Does that mean this "expansion" is officially broken beyond repair?

Thank you for this opportunity to fiddle with installation files instead of playing the game I'm paying money for. After all, some cosmetic re-balancing of some peripheral ship that I probably won't notice, is totally worth all the fuss. If it ain't broken, lets break it.

Has there ever been an EVE expansion release which wasn't hopelessly broken and buggy? There's been ZERO of those during the past 3 years I've been playing anyhow.

I have launched again the repair tool and now it worked till the end.

BUT NO WAY TO HAVE THE CHARACTERS LOGIN SREEN (just the f***ing launcher no more)

Controlling the processes i see that after i hit play on the launcher the "exefile.exe" runs just for 3-4 seconds than disappears without any error msg.

SOMEBODY HEAR ME !?!?!?

Mhmmm changed the option of DirectX to 9 from 11...
It works.
Strange that i have Win7 and DirectX 11 installed.

Is my computer drunk or someone else ?

You can run the Repair Tool using 'repair.exe --safemode' which should fix the DBRunRecoveryError exception./
