That being said, L4 missions are boring as hell.
I rushed into a Battleship, and had crappy skills because of it.

I made more ISK running a single unrated PLEX in 20 minutes in a Battlecruiser than I did doing 50 missions in a Battleship. L4's are definitely NOT the best ISK/Hour.

In a lot of cases Level 3 missions are actually better in ISK/h then Level 4s. Because you can run them much faster.

L3s will get you extremely bored extremely fast once you outclass them. They are much worse than L4s in that regard.

I do recommend L3s until you can fit an all tech 2 tank, but once you can fit tech 2 resist modules tailored to the mission at hand, and can break battleship tanks, you will likely find L4s more rewarding from an ISK metric.

L3s serve one purpose of note, however. If you want to gain standings fast with a corporation (for instance to unlock jump clones or to reduce trading fees) then grinding L3s while ignoring loot and salvage in a ship with a MWD is the optimum way to achieve those goals.

Remember this: Run L3s for standings, L4s for bounties and security status, and L5s for loyalty points, and before considering running L5s in anything less than a carrier, know exactly what you will be up against.

Just here to point out: amarr ships also use drones and they often have bonuses to energy weapons. And energy weapons means rapid adaptation to the changing range + zero ammo additional costs. Once you bought frequency crystals, you do not have to buy new and new ammo for missions. You do not have to stress about when to start fire so ammunition will not be wasted due to the range.

For L3 missions you can decide between drone boat (Prophecy) with strong passive tank or damage boat (Harbinger) with good DPS capability. L3 still have plenty of quick ships to deal with, so not much job for sentry drones anyway.

For L4 missions you have 2 drone boats (Armageddon or Armageddon Navy Issue) or 2 sniper boats (Apocalypse and Apocalypse navy issue). There is also Abaddon as tank ship for medium range combat, if you want to change usual pattern in sniping L4 missions:

[Abaddon, Abaddon Level 4 Mission Runner - Reactive Armor Hardened]

Yeah. Like the short list of possible L4 are thrilling.

Any form of PvE is boring, as they are scripted and follow the same principle over and over again.

It has no drones at all, is very fragile but can give you very different (sniper) game play. So - less boredrome ;)

This is a horrible, horrible idea.

The Oracle (and any tier 3 BC) have a paper-thin tank and with no drones, you can easily lose them to a single elite frigate.
They work well as snipers if you can warp in 100km away and kill things before they get close, but you cannot always control that in missions. If you land in the middle of the rats, you will lose your ship.
