Question on setting up a POS

What I wanna know is if in High sec, can I set up a POS while in a Corp that has standings of +10.0 example, then leave that Corp to join another corp. Will my POS that I set up still be allowed and fully operational? Or will concord/ some game mechanics have it destroyed or set offline?

A POS is a corp structure, not a player structure. It belongs to the corp that set it up. If you set up a POS while with a corp that has a high standing then leave that corp, the POS remains as the property of the corp you left and you will have no access to it.

I'll clarify a little: standing is only required to anchor the control tower, and doesn't matter after that.

I'll also add that if there is nobody remaining in the corp with any standing, the standing will never change, allowing the corp to place new towers forever.

Example: my corp once had a member with standing to a Khanid corp. Nobody currently has standing with that corp, yet the standing remains, allowing us to make jumpclones there forever (too bad it is so far away).

A POS is a corp structure.

Even if you bought it, once deployed its owned by the corp.

To further clarify Standings:

You mentioned that the corp has standing of +10... its rare that a corp has faction standings of +10, so I just want to make sure we are looking at the right thing.

In order for a corp to install a Control Tower (you call it POS) in Hisec, the Corp needs to have faction standing (of the faction of space you are in) equal to ten times the security status of the system. And you cannot install a Control Tower in a system with security status higher than .7. So, say you have a system in Saisio (which I believe is a system in Caldari that has a sec status of .7). In this case, the corp needs to have 7.0 standings with Caldari. You cannot install a Control Tower in Jita because Jita is .9 space.

Standings can be with an individual faction, NPC corp, player, or other player corp... and so on. Just make sure you are looking at the right standings. In this case you need faction standings.

And yea, its corp owned so if you leave corp, nothing changes with the POS other than you wont be able to access it. We probably should never have called them Player Owned Starbases (POS) since they aren't really player owned and are rather corp owned... That's why I try to call them what CCP calls them, Control Towers.

Hope this helps....

I think the reason they are called POS...players (through the corp) own them, they are not owned by NPCs like the highsec stations.

Also, if you read the OP, the +10 standings is an example, also the OP himself is in a NPC corp. So I rather think he is just enquiring about the options before finding out how it works the hard way.

On an almost completely unrelated note, as you've read above the POS is owned by the corporation. This means if you are the one putting the isk into it and all the time, you should be the CEO of the corporation. Anything less and you can see that POS and EVERYTHING IN IT, taken from you by the directors or CEO.
