I don't know about you, but if I were a noob and I read a possible event and it would be dangerous. I would simply not go. Newer players could ask older players and older players in corps with these newer players could have advised them too.

I can't believe we're going at this again.
It seems the one overly attached to his internet spaceships is you, not the hisec players. WE didn't care about danger, we were prepared for it.

To the original post:

Why did we not turn back? Because we believed we'd have an event. That simple - even if the nullsec alliances gank it and the event is "disturbed" or "ruined" or we "lose" and those others are "victors", and we end up losing our ships and pods... we would've been part of something that was supposed to be exceptional to EVE; a "one shot" call. History.
Who thinks a ship is too much of a cost for this?!

In fact, there was nothing exceptional here - to use a nullseccer's expression: "Welcome to our regular tuesday night". And that's why people complain.

I know the live event was a few days ago and alot of people just want to forget it ever happened at this point.
And while I know CCP messed up in more than one way and there are a few reasons why people are upset at this event, I still have a question to the people who are mostly upset over CCP welping them:

Why didnt you just turn back when you saw Doril on your route?

Isnt it obvious?
They needed more time to set up that scam+awox, they needed time so more nulbears can sit on gate to snipe some highsec players.
Thats all.
Nullsec Devs for nullbears... sadly this will not make this game better and if you, CCP, mean to play EVE as a nullsec space game, then good luck with the small player base you already have there. Cause it is not growing, its getting smaller.

Good Awox, good job by screwing over your customers

It's only just after 9am in Iceland, they will be in front of their managers at the moment, which will be a "you fu%^*+< did WHAT! " Moment.

Within a couple of hours we will know whether they are a company we can support with our money..

Wait just a little before jumping hopefully wiser heads will prevail. If not We will be joining you shortly.

CCP remember patience is a virtue .... Not a right.

Oh and by the way, this deserves a proper response not the usual tiny gift to distract.

Let me see NOT ....we mislead you, awoxed hisec sh** in your open mouth. Here's a sweety to take the taste away.

More in the line of
we apologise for the live event, we have identified certain elements in the dev team who were working against the interests of the player base and the company, this will be dealt with Internally and steps will be taken to ensure it can never be repeated. We assure you that all players are valued, thank you for your support whilst we resolve this to everyones satisfaction.

Well, werent you?

Surely this live event will be remembered for years to come as *that time CCP welped an entire high sec fleet*

And you will be able to say *I was there*.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

I know I called for patience, But that is now exhausted for me too.
I too will be somewhere where no one cares about EvE.
Such a shame so many need to leave before they realize.

People really like live events and those who participate in them are not doing so for gain of ISK or stats.

Even risk-averse "carebears" will go into live events and risk their ships.

Live events are "real" in a sense that it's more than just an interaction of the game but part of the story.

There is proof here that the high sec players are not as risk averse as many of the "leet" PVP crowd claims. I can go SCUBA diving with sharks, and then proudly proclaim that everybody who did not take that same risk is now "lower" than me, in stature, worth, prowess, etc. Most of the nullsec hatred for highsec is based on this Goon-influenced ideology of "us versus them and we are better for being us".

The better part of this proof, and argued countlessly on these forums, is that people WILL take risks if the price or motivation is high enough.

And leaving highsec to be in organizations of people using PVP as a bulwark against their low self esteem is not very attractive.

Notably though there are a lot of nullsec players and organizations who are not like that, but they are hard to find and the casual player in highsec may not have a lot of time to offer playing with such a great crew and addressing the needs of their organization - why join when you can get kicked for lack of participation later because your work hours changed or you had to spend a month painting the house? I have gotten to know some pretty cool players out there in nullsec and would love to be out there with them, but I have to go weeks barely having the time to log in to update the skill que, or play well outside of the time zones of everybody else (PST late night is graveyard shift in almost everywhere but Jita).

Bring back DEEEEP Space!
