I generally buy a clone 10m or more sp above my level so I won't forget. Though I still forget after my occasional pod deaths.

For sure you find ways to make more isks per hour with that amount of SP than the newbie pilot with 5mil SP.
Hence clones costs increase as per SP amount.

Its all logical.
