I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Almost sure you got a virus, an adware or sort of browser mailicious plugin or extension, or even some regitry key infected.

But ofc you dont believe me and will continue without running antimalaware malawarebytes.

PS: and now you tell me "oh but i got an antivirus inatalled, and its the best antivirus".. and ill just laugh in your face and call you an ignorant.

But its ok.

thumbs up if you like :))))

I was just gonna say - I don't think he was wondering about Will Robinson..

Do you run any virus scanners / anti-spyware etc.. Was the message popped up in an eve-themed dialog box, or just a normal windows styled dialog?

It does, almost, sound like a thing eve would say in terms of humour; but I don't think the message actually came from eve.

Try and find out what software you are running may have given you the warning and why. ~(Maybe load it up and see if has logs of the alerts it has given you etc...)

If it wasn't for the fact that It said Will Robinson(Space themed character of some sort) when I opened EVE, I would have assumed it was some sort of virus and would have taken extra steps to find the culprit. But, since it could be linked to EVE in some manner, I was wondering if CCP had implemented it and it's just something that can pop up once in a blue.

That being said, extra steps have been taken just in case. Looked through event viewer and did find something.

So, to pick up on the original question, why did I see a pop up message?

It sounds like none of us actually know the answer. My guess is that it has something to do with being behind a proxy, having an invalid security certificate on something (not the eve server or everyone would have it), or some other obscure network security related issue. Was the popup inside of the client, or did it come from the launcher?

As soon as I launched EVE, the pop up occurred and it mentioned something about EVE.server something or other not being secure, proceed at your own risk Yes/No

"Danger Will Robinson" as an error message when something is seriously wrong is actually not that uncommon, because Nerds will be Nerds.

Which is understandable, but I found the lack of info on the web annoying. (The lack of info on the forums is to be expected)
So I have to assume it's origination may be with CCP, but why tell me it's unsecure?

Well, I'd guess that the proxy you mentioned includes some sort of inspection engine and packet redirection to forcefully proxy detected SSL connections which the eve client (rightfully) detected as man in the middle attack. But that's not something people usually have at home....

Without a dev confirming where and when in the connection process that error is thrown, this is little more than a sharp look at a broken crystal ball and/or empty coffee mug though.

[Edit]
Depending on your personal level of practical paranoia, I'd change the account password and contact CCP security.

With that, I have run some scan, looked through programs and perhaps completely overreacted in some way (which I'm sure some individual here will love to point out) but was unable to find anything of real interest on my PC. I generally like to keep it clean.
So, without further information or a blue post as to where it originated from, I have to conclude it is benign and no further action needs to be taken.

That being said, if it pops up again I'd be more than happy to take a screen shot for the masses.

Kids.....this is from the robot from lost in space series. The robot could predict danger and would alert his master Will Robinsons withh....DANGER...DANGER....WILL ROBINSON with lights flashing in his glass buble head and mechanical pincher arms frailing about.

Old school scifi.

Edit: We use to watch this show on a thing that had a vaccume tube in it and could have even been in black and white. After you walked to school with no shoes in the snow up hill both ways.
