My guess is that you'll see people shut down their gallente reaction farms first in hopes of waiting it out. I imagine people would rather sit on their hands for a month and hope than tear down and rebuild their farms right away. It should be close enough to the winter "expansion" with its anchoring changes that people will just wait for that.

The key number is when mining thick blue in nullsec becomes more profitable than mining whatever people do now ("ABCs", I believe).

I find it hilarious that high sec players think anyone in 0.0 mines.

Even at the current prices of oxygen isotopes I make 10x more running anomalies and deadspace complexes.

So to people who said it would be temporary, and undone by some stockpiles. How about from 880 it has risen to 1200 and now 1500.

I think the stockpiles released caused the drop from 1000 to 800, now that they are in play and being burned through they can have no other effect on the market.

Hell, it could have been that the goons predicted they would do this, bought up the isotopes en mass and sold at the initial rise causing the initial drop.

But, now as supply keeps getting burned through, no new supply, prices rise. You can't play a trick that has already been done.

Given the monster which is setting up and taking down a pos it is not likely the many ones used will change out until winter expansion.

Even if some miners manage to succeed in getting it, its nothing compared with the bot legions and multiboxers in macks used to do. Prices will stay high, supply will never match demand in the coming weeks.

people do mine ice in 0.0

specifically IRC but to put that in perspective they lost an anomoly running hel today which is three separate levels of failing

People do mine, but it doesn't even match their own demand of one isotope of ice, let alone the 3 that they don't have. my alliance has access to oxygen isotopes but still none on market, I imported half a million for a small alliance and it got burned away in short time. I'm getting a whole million, how soon will that be gone? Will it just be a week?

In the same way people may still be mining oxygen isotopes in empire in tech 1 ships ready for ganks, they can boast about how 'they won', even though if the number of people ice mining is reduced to 1% of people and ships who used to do it (bot lords will likely look to other isotopes for passive farming). Functionally, the blockade has already won and supply is murdered. Much in the same way that if a army levels 99% of a city, 1% of it still standing can say they 'won', but that would be insane optimism in the face of adversity.

Anything can happen, but how often does it, how practical is it?

Funnily enough, literally within a few minutes of weaselior's post, someone undercut the rest of the pack by 70 isk/unit.

"I'll show that filthy goonie goon goon what's what!" *scams self out of isk* "HA! TAKE THAT!"

I find it hilarious when nullsec players try to mock another nullsec player by calling them a hisec player while making a completely false statement.

People (bots) in 0.0 mine. Furthermore, IRC have been mining blue ice since oxytopes were 900 isk pu. When mining ice is more valuable than mining whatever they mine now (ABCs I believe), then they (bots) will mine ice.

Sure its 1250, in one lowsec system, tucked away down a pipeline filled with nice people who want to teach you what a prison shower would be like...

ABC is worth way more than ice still and anomalies still pay 3x what ice does.

You make a good point though, let me amend my original statement.

I find it hilarious that high sec players think anyone (that isn't a complete moron) in 0.0 mines (for profit).

Also, I wasn't trying to mock another nullsec player, I was talking about high sec players.

People are failing to grasp the greater significance of the first successful and sustained act of market terrorism.

First? Every time you see a merc corp contracted to harsh an indy corp it is likely because they stepped on someone's margins. This might count as the loudest most obvious example.....

Far indeed from the first, and many have been running now for several years - but the most successful market manipulators aren't foolish enough to brag in public about what they are doing.

And, in any case, this attempt can only be classified as loud, not successful. PVPers define success in terms of ships destroyed or tears generated, but they just don't get the fact that, in the markets, success is measured by how much ISK you actually made, not how much ISK you managed to destroy or prevent someone else from making. I'm sure that the Goons will also claim to have made hundreds of billions of ISK, but just a quick look at the markets shows that most of their sell orders are still up and moving glacier slow. A noob monopolist mistake, but, hopefully, they will learn and do better next time.

yes, many goonswarm orders at absolutely hilarious prices are still on the market

and they're probably going to sell this weekend as random goonswarm members who have no idea what a market manipulation is make more money off one trade than you do in months~~~

Being in Goonswarm does have its perks. I've only been in the alliance for a few months but I've profited immensely from this interdiction. As soon as the broadcast went out that we were going to hit Gallente ice, I bought a few hundred thousand units of Oxytopes. I'm looking to sell them soon for over triple what I paid for them. Zero effort or knowledge involved (I don't think I even have any Trade skills trained). I didn't join GSF for this but it's a nice benefit.

People like me also help the effort. Every Oxytope stockpiled helps drive the price higher. I imagine, considering the success of this operation, we'll be doing similar things in the future. If anyone wants in to GSF so you can get this info as soon as it goes out, send me an Eve-mail ingame.

This thing still here? Take note the economic repercussions were so dire that nobody in MD bothered to notice it until some goon put up a thread to stroke to with his fellow goons. Pretty sure this encapsulates the total effect. Troll on you crazy diamonds....

90% of of the time my posts are about something I actually find interesting and want to learn more about. Do not be alarmed.
