Hi!
We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Thursday, October 24th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time).

What exactly is being tested?
  • Test client and server performance in Rubicon
  • Test database performance and stability
  • Some features for Rubicon: DX11 support, warp disruption bubbles, deployables, warp speed changes

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

Test steps:

  • Meet in FD-MLJ at the gate to X-BV98
  • Jump to X-BV98
  • Align to planet 1
  • Fleet-warps to planet 1 (different range per fleet)
  • Try to mass-deploy deployables
  • Wing warps (if possible with alignment)
  • Squad warps to POS beacon (with alignment to POS)
  • Shoot the control tower (which has siphon units)
  • Align to Poitot gate
  • Fleet 1: Jump to Poitot and setup gate camp (with bubbles)
  • Fleet 2: Jump to Poitot + fight at the gate

What else should I know?
  • We will be moving players to the test system - join the channel massmoveme
  • Please bring many different ships, we will provide cynos for capitals (but sub-capitals are preferred)
  • Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test
  • If possible: Bring deployables (mobile depots and cyno inhibitors are available in FD-MLJ in front of the station) and warp disruption bubbles.

Important: Change your DX setting the launcher to DX11, if you changed it to DX9 for the previous build and your card supports DX11.

I will not be able to do this test as it is not during or near my lunch hour (as most previous mass tests were). So you will have to get along without the only Mac user who gives feedback in the feedback thread.

From the news post on the client:

"We are planning a mass test on Singularity to asses the performance of new features, the client..."

The word is "assess", unless this is some form of slang that I am not aware of...

To expand on the "Test database performance and stability" bullet point then we are planning to upgrade TQ's primary game cluster database from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 to 2012 in early December. SiSi will be connected to a 2012 database instance for this test and this is one of final steps of a long process to upgrade TQ.

As a Fellow MS Sql 2012 devloper (my own software dev company lol).
Watch out with server 2012 and extreme amounts of I/O to tables. There were a few glitches i found under high load that were easily fixed by a few well documented registry "hacks" on the msdn site :-) easy to apply, and fixed the issues right up for my applications.
GOOD LUCK

There will be additional mass tests at a later point that you will hopefully be able to attend.

Hi,

I've just updated my SiSi install in preparation for the mass test and it wont load with the launcher set to DX11, it just loads with a black screen and a cursor, I could also hear the audio of the first run game intro

If I kill the application and set it to DX9 on the launcher it loads correctly

I am running the ATI beta drivers 13.10 for BF4 beta, so i've now updated them to 13.11 beta's and its still the same..

Sisi is currently running the Odyssey 1.2 patch from this weekend, not Rubicon. They said they would update it on Wednesday to Rubicon just in time for the mass test. thats why dx11 wont work currently. See link and quote below.

Then, when will the new patch be applied on the test server?

We are planning to apply the new patch on Wednesday, just in time for a mass test, which is planned for Thursday (more information tomorrow).

Hi,

How many SP's will we receive for participating, and will these SP's be available on TQ?

Seriously? Doubt I'll bother then.

Srsly. Make the reward 50k instead but on TQ and you'll get unprecedented numbers.

The SP are rewards for people who want to test out fits/ships on Singularity before commiting to them on TQ. Giving out SP on TQ would result in more attendance than our test server could handle, I would wager :)

If you need a reward on TQ to attend to mass tests, I'm sure everyone will be fine without you Shocked

2mil on sisi allows to try out different things, and that's enough for me and plenty of others ! Plus we have a fun fight with basically free ships, so yeah, that's cool !

Edit : On many other games, the only benefit of the test server is to see the next update before everyone else.. And people find that it's enough. Here we also have this shiny reward, you should be happy, but you always complain for more !

Anything occurring on Singularity doesn't effect TQ in any way, unless you **** someone off and they decide to hunt you on TQ.

Gobble gobble gobble, no seriousy, gobble gobble gobble!

2mill SP is a nice bonus, however, it would be interesting to be able to try everything out, which is why I would like 200mill SP.

Then there would be no incentive to attend other masstests, You're only thinking about here and now and being selfish. 200mil would also pretty much ruin test server as every one and their mother would be in dreads.

What about 10 million SP's? Think that might allow people a bit more scope to try new things out...

If anything, double it to 4 mil at best. SP can let you test things, but the cap of 10mil currently only gets you so far to explore things you might wanna do in TQ. A cap of 20mil would sorta work out and not allow everyone to suddenly pilot what normally a really time consuming ship to get in.

This also implies they attend all tests consecutively 5 times :D

Do I personally want to see more SP, yes, in-between mirrors I stretch what I get thin and explore crap. I've modified my training on TQ a decent amount based on what I learn here. Would I want to learn more with more SP, of course. Is it a decent idea to give more sp per test, possibly, depends on CCP's stance on it and the positives and negatives.

More SP would allow people to reach a goal to do something on SiSi quicker, they might be inclined to stop testing once they get skills for certain ships. Some of us are greedy and attend as many tests as possible anyways ;D.

All I know, is 200mil SP would wreak havoc, and leave less reason to attend tests after your first test.
