unique rare ores that give minor bonus to hulls.

Here's a way to spruce up mining. Create special ores that are very rare that give randomized special effects to hulls.

For reference in going to use the names of ultima online ores:

the amount of special ore used in construction of the ship increases the bonus
Dull copper:
+2-5% armor and hull hp
+3-7% armor and hull hp
+4-8% armor and hull hp

Gold:
2-5% electromagnetic damage return to all ships giving incoming damage within a 25km radius
3-7%
4-8%

Verite:
grants 6 seconds of reinforced 99% hull resist when hull reaches 40%
8 seconds
10 seconds

Valorite:
Weapon systems now damage a secondary target within 10km for 15% damage
20%
25%

How do you add these effects? Rework mining and distribution missions to add rare encryptor rewards that alter the blueprint to allow the change. Ores would be very rare in high sec. High in low and null. Encryptors would be very hard to get in high sec but not impossible. Low and null mining missions would have.

^ Shutup.

I like the idea as long as it's balanced properly. However this would mean you couldn't sell them in the market, only through contracts. Not sure how this would work having so many custom ships.

Anything that starts as optional to boost a ship that does not require a slot (be it rigs high/mid/low or implant) will quickly become mandatory at it highest level.

In a nut shell the OP wants higher ship prices and power creep.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Maybe make them lighter to increase agility and top speed but nothing for HP or DPS imo.

To be fair the resource amount would be very low in the amount you get, and it would cost proportional to the amount of original resources. Making a battleship would be very expensive. In effect with the idea, I wanted a way to let people in effect build their own shinies, but at a rate that still keeps them exceptionally rare.

The idea is from ultima online where they had such system called bulk order deeds, which were in effect mining and logistic missions. The best reward was a blacksmith hammer that let you create a valorite weapon. You would do incredible damage with this and one shot people with the right weapon (ship equivalent)
Ultima online was a lot easier to pick your fights and not die
, given these 2 facts still you almost never saw anyone using the weapon. Given the cost of such ships, people would not have them as fleet doctrines.

The one exception may be frigs destroyers and t1 cruisers as the resource amount to build them is much lower than larger ships or t2 ships

there are other less carebear games than wow.
Does wow even have open pvp?
In effect you are putting these resources in an open pvp environment, making no comparison to wow

Cost is not a way to balance anything. And besides, if this stuff is available in highsec, the cost will not stay high for long.

There is a lot of highsec, with a lot of people in it who are willing to sell things for well below their actual value. If it exists in highsec, the price WILL be artificially low.

this....

This was why drone poop was pulled. I know I as an empire seller could isk war on this and still make out good. I could and did for the high ends did not charge a rate for transport a 0.0 person would charge. They have to cover their fuel costs and such for hopping it out. I didn't. And the RNG only gave me drone missions once in a while. I will assume others in empire had same luck. And its safe to say we miss the amount empire drone mission runners put on the market today.

Rest of this.....nope. CCP would be rerererererebalancing too much after. CCP gave and took away with the say Navy mega change. YOur copper negates that change. In that I lost armour hp in its recent redo. You are giving it back. Iff ccp wanted Navy mega to have that hp, they would have saved lots of dev hours coding and testing it. YOu want your armour higher the mechanisms are in game already. PLate, fleet boosts, slaves.

Maybe for Tech 4, it could be cool. I don't want the effect to be random, but any attribute should be fair game.
