CCP: I used to be an exec at a gaming company, and I get the rationale behind the hesitation., but here we have over 100 pages of your customers asking for something - something that you already have, you just need to bundle it up. Even your own devs and artists want it released. Releasing high-res textures would seriously be a tremendous leap forward, and likely appreciated more than code-related changes.

Make it an optional download, or at a minimum, release them outside of the game so your fan-art creators (like me) can use them for our art.

C'mon CCP execs .... approve! :)

eve ran with a dual graphics detail option a few years ago
I remember it, because at the time my pc couldn't run the higher specced shiny view


so, if they did it once, they can do it again.

The trouble with that was they had to maintain 2 clients which wasn't cost/maintenance effective.
