This isn't april first so I'm guessing ccp are just a little late. Seriously ccp you we're thinking this would go well for you. Why don't you just throw up a thread with these Ideas first and if people go nuts (as they have) don't do the Idea.

Already live, Somer is having a feast on players trying to win the prizes, isk pouring in.
Even if CCP pulls back prizes, and Somer says "sure" and puts a little isk bandaid on the wound from own pocket, its still huge marketing stunt and probably somewhere similar amount of isk gambled will go into Somers pocket just for the CCP reference.

Damage is done. Where is internal affairs?

Disclaimer: I don't play Somer, have no grudge on them - just noticed the traffic is insane after this stunt based on the prizes alone.

What an ***** idea is that?
Not only to reintroduce something you promised to never bring back to the game, but also do it in such an awful, player-hated way, allowing profit-oriented 3rd party corp to earn even more isk?!
CCP seems to be heading down the stream, again.
It seems T2 "lotteries" taught you nothing.

I'm hoping this was just a "brilliant" idea by one of CCPs newcomers because I can't really believe the veterans of the team would think this would be a good idea.

Eve is a game of consequences, isn't it? You lose a one of a kind ship, it's gone... why is this changing?

Has CCP officially endorsed SOMER? Will they audit the backend code to make sure there is no favoritism or rigging? What if SOMER decides to steal the collector ships? I know that won't happen (bad business) but is there an actual guarantee? Maybe there is a contract, agreement, whatever...

In the end this was a poorly thought out decision. I hope CCP wises up and listens to the playerbase.

They don't give it out to the public. Only a select group of players has the chance to get one.

I think a big issue here is that we have SOMER blink (the ingame corporation) and SOMER blink (the gambling site).

It's okay when CCP supports 3rd party sites with giveaways (e.g. free frigates when buying GTCs on ScatteredCrystal), but when that 3d party is also an ingame player organisation we enter a very shady area.
Then supporting a business partner turns into - or at least looks like - player favoritism. :(

These fears are not unfounded. I picked a winner at random the other day and compared his "first blink win" date with the date of his creation, and sure enough his first win came before his creation date. I checked a few more, and it has happened enough that either there are serious issues with the database or there is something untoward occurring. To put these rare ships in the control of such an organization is the height of ignorance, because either by scam or mistake the chances that these ships will be mishandled is extremely high.

Gimme a unique T2 Khanid battleship called the Castigator and I'd be willing to forget all this happened.

How about CCP retains SOMER to manage the draw, give each active subscription automatic entry, adds a new ship named "Trollden Magnate" which is a copy of the original intended drop.

Forget about the other lottery items this time around and starts again after discussing with CSM.

It would be funny at least.

all the moaning is from die hard vets that prob have 1 of the "meh who cares rare" ships
or 1 of the tournement ships

last point and my best 1 tbh stop directing a gm for christ sake to a blog aboout somer being a scam .. there gm's of the game there pretend lotto is in , If blink was a scam with bogus accounts who's gonna know .... some blogger boy with a poorly done website or a guy that can look into accounts ( gm) in the actual game ....?

csm getting involved is also lame isnt there something you need to be doing in null?

You're as dumb as a brick. It has nothing to do with unique ships. It has everything to do with CCP giving advantages to a player run corp in EVE. This is going to have a serious repercussion. Bet on it.

you need to read this again the majority of ppl are moaning about the ships if it was about blink getting ships alone why wasnt there this much fuss for blinks 1Q party with ccp prizes ? dumb + brick

This is sick, CCP should not favorize a player organization even for the sake of "promoting the community".
If CCP really wanted to do a lottery for these ships, CCP could have done it by themselves, to ensure as much fairness as possible.

Also, there is absolutely no assurance that the lottery is random. There is no way to verify the absence of favoritism, a serious concern when you consider the total value of these ships.

I just don't get it. Who got the idea, who approved it, and what are the links between blink and CCP ?
