so why is blink getting all this money and not good people like cribba or any grunt? this is just handing out free isk to players by CCP. We dont know 100% sure where the money goes to once somer gets it so i would really like to see CCP think twice about this. Even if the money goes to a good cause then its still isk that shouldnt have existed.

So again please think twice about this

To clarify - I'm not and wasn't intimating that I'd close his account. We didn't close it when he ignored our rules and tried to sell answers to our trivia giveaways in Jita local, we certainly wouldn't close it over a rabble rousing forum post :)

I noticed he had one hand raised in protest, but the other was still busy opening gifts. I was just checking if he was interested in joining in on the protests he was suggesting for others.

And you sound like a douchebag for doing so. I already thought that SOMER being given such ships was a bad idea, your actions and attitude here have sealed the deal.

For my part, I know the EULA forbids players from implying favor of CCP, I have trouble imagining that there isn't a similar rule forbidding CCP employees from showing favor towards certain players, and, well... handing an organization ships to give away in a for-profit lottery sounds a lot like favor to me.

CCP Navigator wrote:
Maybe in the future you can but for now we are testing the waters and looking at how players react.

Badly. Please never do it again, and remove the ships from BLINK if they've been given out already.

To elaborate a little more here, the problem with this in particular - from my personal perspective, and I am not sure if the rest of the CSM agrees - is not necessarily reintroducing old or extinct ships (although I feel there's good reason to be leery of that), but the vehicle for doing so. Giving these ships to a for-profit - both in-game and, thanks to timecode affiliate marketing, IRL - organization to be auctioned off by them is bad.

SOMER Blink have a history of being trustworthy and honoring every blink played without exception. With that level of trust we were looking at ways of expanding on that good will and allowing players to play for some very unique prizes in that trusted environment. More importantly, we are looking at ways in which we can grow bigger giveaways with more player participation with other Fansites in the future.

excuse me? SOMER Blink has a history of being one of the largest scam operations in the history of EVE.
when SOMER started i did statistics over who wins when, and found several characters that would win quite often but never show up in their statistics. People didn't believe me, mostly to them getting what they won, what they didn't get was that their chances where skimmed.

Ever since severapeople have been blogging about how SOMER Blink is scamming - hell someone (not me) even put up a blog dedicated on exposing SOMER Blink for that ( http://blinkexposed.blogspot.de/ ) (especially look at the site about fake players)

CCP Navigator wrote:

Q2, Why Gold Magnates? Are you trying to ruin the game and release every old legacy/limited model?

A2, Absolutely not. I will address the Gold Magnate first and then the Guardian Vexor before looking at other legacy models. The Gold Magnate was handed out back when most players playing today did not know that EVE existed. As a single one was handed out and then destroyed it actually removes content from the game and that is not always a good thing. We thought hard about how we could reintroduce the model back in, still in a super limited basis, and a lottery seemed the fairest way to do this. With SOMER Blink anyone who plays a single blink (even a free promo blink) will gain a ticket to the main Blink Blast so you have a chance to win. Clearly, the more you play the more chances you have to win the blast. In addition, CCP do not have a lottery system capable of handling this for all interested parties. In this circumstance, we are going to the people who have.

With the Guardian Vexor, this is a model we have given out more than once in the past and something we realize is a collectors dream to own.

Q5, This sucks and I don’t like anything about it. What do you say to that?
A5, I am genuinely sorry if this upsets you and I mean that. What I know from EVE players is that you can make some of them happy some of the time but never all of them happy all of the time. Some players will want to have a chance of owning these unique prizes, some will be super unhappy and voice that displeasure and most people will not care and go on with their daily business.

i want to own a titan, that would totally make me happy, but titans are to expensive for someone who is as bad at making ISK as i am. Still i don't ask you to change the game so titans are cheaper.
You are favoring specific players here beyond reason (and on the costs of those who already own some of those rare ships).

I personally don't own either of those ships, and i'm not a collector who is interested in getting 'em.

but there is really two things that really really shock me:
a) the level of trust your giving to SOMER Blink here, just google for SOMER Blink and scam
b) that you want to give out rare ships, and by that de-value those that are already in. It can't be so hard to create a magnat with a BLINK Logo or some other simply visual difference for this event itself. That would feel a lot less wrong to me than what you are doing right now.

Give it to BIG Lottery. As far as I can remember they have never been for profit.

Also are they going to give away a Federate Issue Megathron. Entity never undocks it so the content doesn't really exist.

What about the Apocalypse Imperial Issue. I am not even sure if DigitalCommunist still plays and if his account with that ship is expired that content doesn't exist either.

I do not like these somer blink people. They accused me of "scripting", banned me keeping my isk, then ignored my evemails when I asked for an explanation of what I did wrong. CCP shouldn't give them a damn thing. And neither should anyone else.

I strongly doubt this. "Scripting" is nowhere mentioned as a violation of Blink's ToS (though I do sympathize if you have a hard time finding said ToS). CCP has now released an official statement about Blink, saying that "to date they have been 100% trustful" [sic]. So if you were to say that Blink has in the past handed out bans not justified by anything in their ToS or other rulesets, you'd be going against official CCP word.

God help you if you were to point out that their ToS directly contradicts other parts of their FAQ.

Please don't reintroduce ships like this. There was one, it was blown up, let it stay that way. That's what makes EVE so great, it becomes a huge part of the lore and history!

Also I'm interested in what type of agreement there is between CCP and SOMER (I woudln't be surprised if you say it's between you guys...) seeing as by the looks, you're donating these rare ships, which I am sure will gather A LOT of attention, which in turn will be tons of people giving SOMER their ISK for a chance to win.

The ISK betted will be returned to CCP or kept by SOMER? Congrats to SOMER for landing the opportunity though, but CCP really you should rethink the items you are giving away because giving out items you said were gone forever is just bad (and I know you can change your mind at any time and reintroduce things - as you just sorta did - but that doesn't make it a smart move).

/c

Chribba put it well.

As a collector, I'm annoyed when old ships are reintroduced. Market are crashed.
This in combination with Somer getting trillions of isk and "under the table" items from CCP, this really has to stop.

Either CCP supports all the game related sites (not really no), or simply don't give away stuff to third party, and especially in these game-changing amounts and valuables. Period.

The fact alone that BLINK mentions that they got stuff from CCP directly equals an endorsement to the average player that comes to the page. The fact that some CCP representative said different ways on some thread with soon over hundred pages does not change that.

CCP knows that because no one in their right mind would be dumb enough to be oblivious to that fact. They effectively endorsed the service and no other service, making it the defacto official gambling page for EVE Online.

Reintroducing historical ship through a third party fansite is going straight into the top ten over the most mind numbing things CCP have ever done.

This Somer guy is no official CCP partner, and what the heck will you do, when it turns out this lottery of his is involved in RMT? Because if there is one thing we have learned over the last ten years, it should be NEVER to trust an Eve-O player. Even you, Chribba. Heck, he could just keep the ships or rig the lottery, if he wanted.

And yes, reintroduce new ships for new events, do not break historical value for your convenience.

Every warning light should have gone off a long time ago. Seems like once again that CCP is being run by morons in the Marketing Department than people with feeling and care for the game.

This isn't just a bad idea, this is the worst idea.

May as well seed the T2 BPO lottery again if CCP wants to give random give people huge benefits, at least that wouldn't be through a player organization.

In one stroke you destroyed the market for unique ships by confirming you were willing to reintroduce both older ships and pretty much confirming that tourney ships would be reintroduced (we will reintroduce them, but not through a lottery). Seriously?

Is Somer Blink legit?

Mostly legit is not 100% legit.

Why is CCP using Somer to distribute exceptionally rare and expensive goodies?

The CSM was not consulted about this lottery, and if we had been, we would have had concerns similar to those raised by many in this thread.

We hope to arrange a meeting with the relevant CCP staff members to discuss the matter in the near future, and will keep the community as informed as possible.

For sure they did not consult the CSM or they would not have come up with such a daft implementation.

Just how many times must we go through these incidents before you learn, CCP?

Grrr... Marketing.

CSM should have a saying, if not final in this. Its the userbase of the sandbox, they represent that.

And IF CCP should go through with this, I'd say that as "officially support by CCP", then Somer blink should be open.

this is my issue with CCP giving of any gifts to any player run anything as prizes to be handed out in whatever fair manner.

What stops any director level person within the Somer Blink or person who has sufficient access to handing out gifts to just commit probably the highest grossing corp theft in eve history, potentially middle fingering CCP in the process?

secondly, and this is in relation to the gold magnate they want to re-introduce... sure maybe the stats are a little different to a normal magnate and its a shiny glossy metalic colour, cant CCP just make a platinum Magnate? litterally how hard is that to do? especially with v3 shaders etc...? its a single parameter change, a few new words in the description and a save and export into a new patch.

tl:dr:
- whats stopping someone in somer blink stealing all the guardian-vexors and gold magnates in a corp theft?
- dont hand out gold magnates, hand out platinum magnates.

This is a horrible idea. No one organisation should get advantageous treatment. Especially one that is run as a for profit organisation.
