strange that "ranked tournaments" doesn't show up on a search... I did try as I thought it would of been

1. Introduce referee ship
- concord shuttle for referee to travel in ONLY if they have been called upon to ref
- It can call a concord battleship on grid with it by right clicking the ship when in it and out of station
- It may request from a concord battleship a bridge to the arena
- being incredibly small and fast, it is EXTREMELY hard to kill

2. Introduce arena sites
- old concord training sites they are no longer using and have released to the capsuleres as a show of good faith as the pressense continues to grow
- shielded concord poses in the middle of no where
- within the pos is a stationary concord frigate
- the referee ship will spawn a cyno that the referee will spawn at if he uses the jump function
- located in lowsec

3. Referee
- When a player is ranked 50 or higher, they are given the privilege of referee
- A referee ship will spawn where their medclone is
- Getting the referee ship destroyed automatically places you in rank 51 and bumps the previous rank holder of 51 to rank 50
- If you lose your rank as referee, the ship disappears, if you are in space when u loose ur rank... it will blow up leaving you in a pod
- Referees must challenge a higher rank once a week unless they are rank one who has to be challenged by a rank 10+ player once a week or will drop
- Referees have the power to call the match a tie which nullifies the encounter and makes the concord frigate open fire on both, the challenge does not count
- Failure to compete during the week, nulifies ur rank unless you are rank 1 and have not been issued a challenge

4. Ranking
- Winning against an opponent lets you take their rank
- Losing drops your rank by ten
- 500 ranks
- ranks 100 to 51 can challenge refs
- ranks 500 to 101 can challenge ranks 500 to 51
- no ranks (500+) can challenge anyone within ranks 500 to 101
- You must challenge an opponent higher then you
- Failure to participate in any fight nullifies your rank

5. Matching
- 100m isk requirement per match per player
- Ref is paid 160m isk
- Concord is paid 40m isk
- Player sets desired rank to challenge... example at rank 300 you desire rank 101, it will try to match you with 101 first then 102, 103, 104, exc.
- player states 10 1hr periods that he is available before tuesday's down time during the previous weeks rounds, if he does not the tourny wll assume you to have the same availability as the week before.

6. Rules
- you must show up in your own t1 cruiser.
- The bubble you fight in is 200km in radius and will bounce any ships trying to get in that aren't of the match and any ships that try to get out during the match.
- cruiser may be fitted to the users preference with no restrictions.
- fleet bonuses will not apply to ships within the arena

7. Prizes
- rank 1 receives special edition ship if held for 3 weeks straight
- ranks 1-10 receive 100 aurum
- ranks 11-50 receive 10 aurum
- ranks 51-100 receive 1 aurum
- ranks 101+ receive squat

8. Eve is real
- Tournament play introduces the gladiator profession
- Fight for glory in the arena!

*rolls eyes at Harry comments*

I don't agree with what Harry said so I made my own with a different focus.

I'm a fan of old roman gladiator matches to the death... Who isn't? You risk risk a huge investment for the chance at a little glory while testing your metal against great players in the higher ranks.

My underlying hopes for this would be for ccp to record the top player matches, add some theatrical camera angles, and then throw them on twitch with some awesome commentating so that others outside of our niche community can see something really cool. The Eve community is cool but this is an opportunity to make more communities notice us.

Maybe someday down the road a person who has never played eve will be routing for a player who is.

I see it as a way to kill open world PvP... because you'd be an idiot to PvP in an uncontrolled environment rather than a safe, instanced area.

You cant Pirate in an Arena, you cant do fleet fights in an Arena, you cant Claim SOV Space in an Arena, you cant salvage the cold frozen corps from your vaporised enemy in an Arena.

So, i believe your PvP is safe.

Ah I forgot to mention that the arenas were in lowsec, so yah... not safe because you have to get there and back

The fights take place in lawless space where something like this should be

There are plenty of opportunity to kill the target on the way there and back but in the ring, it's just you and your opponent - like it should be.

Op you clearly dont get it. The entire star cluster is the arena, plus loads of organizations already run ranked tournaments.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

Oh I get it, it's just not big enough and insignificant to the global community for my liking.

It'd be nice to see people tune in to season pvp games of eve and watch them even if they have never played eve before.

There are the tournaments ccp puts on but they are limited to very old and highly skill pointed players.

If your talking about player made tournaments, the mechanics are not really there to expedite the process and are limited to the players you play with. That and the most common form of tourney is FFA, I've never heard of a tiered 1v1 500 player tourney.
