[Graphics] - Player selected station / POS exterior

Hi,


Please allow us to change our station/POS exterior to the numerous large decorative space objects, perhaps through a station upgrade or POS module. Who wouldn't want to dock in an asteroid bar? Or have a station obscured by a gas cloud/wormhole?


Possible selections:
1. Giant asteroid (spodumain ?)
2. Giant space shuttle hulk
3. Broken asteroid formation
4. Gruistas military outpost
5. Mainframe cluster (hacking site)
6. Gas cloud
7. Hive drone structure

9. Wormhole
10. Billboard

What you're proposing would add a lot of developer work in return for nothing but a bit of fluff. There's no need for this in the game.

Recycling existing artwork using existing mechanics, does not involve any gameplay mechanics. Thus removing need for extensive testing.

Actually, there's a lot more than you'd think. First you have to incorporate the ability for a POS to be represented by multiple models, which isn't nearly as simple as you might think. After that you have to create some system to change between models for an individual POS, which is also much more complicated than it sounds. And after you do all that coding, you have to go back and make sure that it can't be exploited in some way that you didn't expect when you coded it.

All of that just for a minor visual tweak that a very small percentage of people would actually even notice (much less care about). It's simply not worth the developer time and effort.

Most people would notice if the stations started to acquire character, instead of the same rubber stamp appearance.

Yes, I really hope your post is a troll too.....

Try reading the OP and using your brain a little... go on, I assure you it wont hurt.
I'll give you a hint as you are probably too busy trying to come up with more usless responses: "Or have a station obscured by a gas cloud"

I agree with the OP, having more choice in how your POS looks in game would be a great addidion to the game. They arn't called POS for nothing.

What about all the hard work that CCP put into the new nebula, or engine trails, or the new warp effects or all the new ship graphics.....? It's these 'bits of fluff' that make Eve look as amazing as it does.
