hello there , just resubbed after an almost 3 year long break.

I assume alot has changed in the last 3 years and would love to know what exactly is the best way to tackle lvl 4 missions these days.

Pretend i can fly any ship and mission for any faction in high sec while having a very substantial wallet.

Arrow What ship would you suggest me for lvl 4's ?
Arrow How should i run them ? just kill rats / no salvage or just blitzing for LP ?
Arrow What faction would you suggest for optimal LP rewards ?

I have been reading up on all the new stuff like incursions wich all seems better isk/hour wise but i greatly prefer earning my isk solo in my own time. So if there are betetr ways to earn isk in high sec then lvl 4's do tell me but remember i prefer flying solo.

Thanks in advance !

Machariel + blitzing + salvaging by ProSynergy. No clue about the best faction (don't want to make your research, sry).

If you're not too much into min/maxing, there is a variety of solid mission boats, including the Nightmare (better than mach for EM/TH weak rats I've heard), the sentry domi, all kinds of missile boats (RS, SNI, CNR, Typhoon + Typhoon fleet issue) Marauders.. etc. etc.

Your choice.

there are several good ships for lvl4s, including marauders, pirate battleships and navy battleships. it would help if you gave us a general breakdown of your skillset.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I'm sorry it was stupid of me to ask for wich faction. thats something i have to do personally.

So you highly reccomend a machariel hmm. it IS one of my favourite ships i give you that.
Ingame people say the rattlesnake is the current king of mission running tough. sentries with cruise missiles does have its appeal

My current skillset is more suited towards a machariel but i have shields / armor / gunnery / missiles all very high.
Not to mention i still have the 5,4mill sp refund from learning skills... I could easily adapt to pretty much any race instantly.

So frankly i can fly anything you could suggest.

I disagree about the RS, but generally, sentry drones are really appealing - so are cruise missiles. However - I doubt that it can compete with a Mach, and I doubt that it can compete with the other missile-boats. Imho, it doesn't have the slots to fully support both weapons.

You can either fit for sentries (sacrificing the ability to apply damage with CM's on non-BS NPC's), or you can fit for CM's (sacrificing sentry projection). Yes, it does have a huge tank, but if you need a huge tank, you are probably not too deep into missioning or the gank over tank concept anyway. I have to put a disclaimer at this point though, as I've never flown a RS, and I'm just eft-warrioring here.

Generally speaking: If you like the Mach, there is no reason to not fly it. Look for a decent LP/isk ratio in minmatar space and you should be fine. It is one of the dominant mission boats since a year or two for a reason. Just be aware that this might change with the balance-pass they will get soon (as part of the tiericide) - that might change a thing or two.

other advantages of the mach are quality of life factors like fast align time, high scan res and selectable damage types (one ship fits all). the few downsides include high ammo consumption and mediocre damage projection and the stupid extra engine it has on one side.

I should buy an Ishtar.
