Will API keys still work for inactive accounts?

I'm planning on making a companion app for EVE, but due to lack of funds and time I might not be able to continue playing. My question is if I were to create an API key, would I still be able to access my character's information even when my game time runs out, assuming that the API expires afterwards/has no expiration? It would be unfortunate if I couldn't use my character to test my app.

I don't think so, as the API key is part of the "product" you're paying for when you get Eve. I'm not sure though, so I'm moving this thread has to EVE Technology Lab, where there are people more knowledgeable on this stuff.

Yes they still work. I needed another account's API key for a project similar to yours and did this exact thing last week. The other account hasn't been subbed in well over a year and I was able to create a new API key for it no problem.

CCP: Please don't change the way this works! My project doesn't live or die on the ability to use API keys for unsubbed accounts, but it definitely makes things easier.

Edit: I have only used the unsubbed account API key to get the names of the characters on the account. Haven't gotten around yet to checking the character sheet info on the individual characters.

I think it's safe to assume that if the names are available the rest will be too. If you plan on testing the rest of it within the month though, please get back to me!

I've had multiple API keys stop working, and the owners of those keys clearly stated that their accounts lapsed. Those were Corporation API keys though, and I'm not sure that makes a difference.

Yes they do work, im doing it right now to see if its worth training up some of my alt chars :)
P.s I added the API to EVEMon after the account expired and it still pulls data.

Yes, they are modelled on real life ;)
