Decrease the accelerate/decelerate time of warp.

A ship spends very little time at actual warp speed. Seems most of it is spent in accelerating and decelerating during the warp phase.

Could that curve be cut down a little so more time is spent at actual warp speed?

Often discussed... search function helps...

The acc/dec rate is tied to old rusty code which cant be changed easily, so it wont be changed until CCP got really nothing better to do.

Well, since CCP is on this "quality of life" trip, may as well do it now.

Faster warp acceleration... I can almost see the gate-gankers foaming at the mouth, lol.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Agreed, in it's current form the current time wasted accelerating and decelerating makes warp speed completely pointless, because the time you actually spend IN warp is nothing compared to your time spent slowly getting to speed.

This code is broken and should have been changed YEARS ago to take ship warp speed into account. If an intercepter warps at the same time as a 3au/s battlecruiser, they will both land at almost identical times... because the lumbering battlecruiser half the size of a modern day town accelerates at the same rate as the fastest ship class in the game.

I love the changes CCP have been making, but this is a change that has been needed for a long time and it continues to be overlooked. Make warp speed relevant, so these fast ships and implants/rigs that improve our warp speed actually reduce travel time and allow us to TRULY chase after people if our ships are faster. Currently, the only thing that lets cepters chase people down is their quick align times (allows you to get 3-10 seconds closer each system)

I know it's often discussed, but I'd like to throw a +1 at this.

Tie warp speed acceleration to top warp speed, AND cut down total acceleration time. If it took ships about 5 seconds to accelerate / decelerate (instead of about 10), and after those seconds the ship was going at max warp speed (vs 3 aus/sec), warp speed would be much more impactful, and a 14au/sec ship would actually have a significant travel speed advantage over a base ship, instead of a barely noticable advantage over 100+au jumps.

It hasn't been overlooked. It's buried spaghetti code from the first iterations of the game that probably ties into several other mechanics. Unfortunately, constantly introducing new mechanics and content, and tweaking the older systems that you can, overshadows completely overhauling something that, while not ideal, fills its intended purpose. They'll get to it one day, but I'd bet on it not being too soon.

Definitely would support this! +1

I'd love my ships to instantly warp/drop out of warp a la Star Wars and even Eve's videos! Also, when we get this, can we get a thundering clap when we enter/drop out of warp?

Enter grid and you're already dead, destined to be reborn and fight another day.

I have thought about this many times and agree completely, the accel/decel should be faster. This would give a REAL advantage to ships that can warp faster such as interceptors, and is a change I can completely get behind.
