Mining, Industry and Astrometrics - Maybe make them tutorial skills?

Is it possible to start without the Mining skill, or at least the option not to start with it via the decision on your background? Being the new 1.1 patch is due to release, is this still going to be one of the beginning skills? I would have figured that Industry would be one of the main ones instead of mining.

All new characters start with the same skill set. The only difference is the racial weapon and frigate skills. Hence everyone starts with mining.

Why would you not want a free skill to start off with Big smile

Currently going through courts to get access to my son. Greatfully accpting doantions to help me keep plexed. Much Love.

Because maybe the OP like myself, has absolutely no interest in mining and never will.

Yes, Mag's has nailed it. There are players out there who create alts, and now that the expansion has released, there isn't really much need for me to have Industry, Mining or Astrometrics on a new alt, beings they creates new categories that "seem to overpopulate the character sheet". (Couldn't figure out any other way of saying it.) I would rather see them put in as part of the mining and scanning tutorials for those who choose to go those routes.
