Offensive use of tractor beam

A random idea struck me whilst using my shiny new tractor beam to reel in some loot today - and that was - what would happen if I could use my new toy on a enemy ship...?

How about if you could use the tractor beam on your worthless enemies and this had the effect of reducing the ships agility - making it have a harder time changing speed and turning in tight circles?

Potential use would be on a ship orbiting you - you can use a web to slow it down, and/or a tractor beam to make it have a harder time keeping in range when orbiting you. If my tiny brain understands this correctly this would mean that if an orbiting ship wanted to keep up it's speed it would be forced to orbit at a larger range.

Oh, and I am a bit of a noob, so if this idea sucks then feel free to question my intelligence, insult my research of game mechanics and insinuate that my mother may in fact be my sister. I won't take offence, though I may cry a little inside.

Or how about this... repulsor beam.

Repels objects same as a tractor beam attracts objects.

Then use them BOTH how you wish.

Erm

Why not just use a web?

Web slows a ship down. This wouldn't but would have the effect of 'pushing' orbiting ships away from you.

It would:

Make ships take longer to change speed
Make ships take longer to align
Probably some other stuff that people cleverer than me could think of :)

Wouldn't that make it both align and change speed faster if it was going away from you though?

Why would you fit one of these on a PVP ship over something like a neut or a NOS?

Orbiting slower and closer (web) and orbiting faster but further away (proposed tractor) are so close in effect that no one would use the high slot for a tractor instead of the medium for a web.

If you drastically reduce the agility you could literally force the ship to fly away from you to keep speed, which seems OP.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

I would rather see it where the tractor beam basically pulls so much mass towards it; and with enough tractors beams, a fleet could say overpower a titans engines and pull it away from the safety of it's POS shield because it was hanging out 2km outside of it. Twisted

Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

See, most people would just bump it out.

And what would stop me just tractoring you and flying away into deep space for hours?
