My first Epic - The Blood-Stained Stars

So it took me about 2 days of playing and getting someone to help me kill Dagan to finally finish this EPIC quest.

I read that the quest rewards at the end is "get the choice of selecting one of the four major empires that you would like a faction standing increase with".

But how do I pick which faction to increase? And if I somehow picked a faction unknowingly, how do I tell which one was increased? I'm very new to the game. Only been playing for about 5 days so sorry for the newbie question.

Thanks

every time you use the word 'quest' when referring to missions, god kills a kitten. the 'reward' for finishing the blood stained stars mission arc is a significant gain in standings towards the faction you chose. go to your character sheet and select the standings tab. there, you can see which faction(s) like you most.

edit: as for which faction to choose, there is no simple answer. you have to read up on what faction standings are actually good for, then you will know which faction to pick for the epic arc.

I should buy an Ishtar.

You choose the faction near the end of that epic arc. If you already finished it it's too late. Default choice is Gallente.

Remember that you can run that epic arc once every three months.

Okay thanks.

Looks like I had to double click on my standing and that popped up a window with what I gained and when.

Going forward, if you choose to pick a corporation within one of the four Empire regions, you will accumulate standings with that corp and more slowly with that Empire faction, and even more slowly, with that faction's ally. So if you run missions for a Gallente corp, you get the most standings with the corp, then secondary standings with Gallente, then last, a trickle of standing with Minmatar. However your standings with the Gallante's enemies, the Caldari, will steadily go down, as will your standing with the Amarr, to a lesser extent. These will go down much faster if you accept missions requiring you to kill Caldari or Amarr military. (You can decline these.)

You can do a juggling act by occasionally running some missions for Caldari corps, and by other means.

It gets complicated. :D Welcome to EVE.

I believe the question was HOW to choose mission branch. :)

Whenever during the dialog with an agent you see the button "Accept this choice" it means you are about to select a branch. On the left panel there you should see some clickable links, usually as kind of captions. Clicking on each such links changes the contents of the right panel to reflect what given choice is about (read carefully each of them). And then when you press the button I mentioned, you accept this choice.

In Blood Stained Stars the choice of faction to get standing with is during the last conversation with Sister Alitura. There you have the choice which out of four agents to help, one from each empire. Then you are sent to such agent, he/she asks you to capture Dagan and bring him to them.

Hope it helps.

Yep, it was. That's why I started my post off with "going forward ... ", meaning that I was referring specifically to our OP's post epic arc life. That would have been easy to miss if one tends to skim posts in a hurry, not reading those fine details. :)
