How do certain T3 cruisers get high insurance payouts?

Recently I was involved in a Legion and Loki death, and while looking at the KM I noticed they had a very high insurance payout (hundred mills of isk) which puzzled me as I can barely insure my proteus for anything. So what's the catch? Question

Everytime you read this you are required to send 100 million isk directly to me.

Market manipulation maybe? https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Insurance#Coverage Seems odd though, given that CCP is quite aware of such manipulation schemes.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

I think you're reading Killmails wrong.
KMs don't post the insurance payouts... only the estimated cost of the ship, estimated cost of the modules on/in the ship, the amount of ISK destroyed, and the amount dropped as loot.

How did you Veterans start?

No insurance is noted in KMs.

Estimated insurance? How do killmails know if you buy plat or not?

I think that was the case as I just looked over it again. Thanks all for the actual helpful answers.

When did CCP start providing KM payouts on KM's?

insurance payouts are bad, horrible, terrible and should be totally removed from the game except for characters under 1M SP.

Think someone pointed out that this is an estimated value of modules fitted to the ship.
