I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Attempting to launch the EVE Online app by double-clicking it results in the warning that the application is broken and should be moved to the trash:

OSX wrote:

When I launch the test client using "/Applications/EVE\ Online\ Singularity.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider --cmdline=" /server:87.237.38.50"" I get the expected "incompatible (build)" message, with an offer to download 17.5MB of patch, only to be told:

EVE Online wrote:
There was an unexpected error while retrieving update status:

Unable to download file /583835/evepremiumpatch583835-mac.tgz from the server.
Error: url //cdn1.eveonline.com/583835/evepremiumpatch583835-mac.tgz not found

Do you want to go to support page?

This is based on a freshly downloaded installer from http://cdn1.eveonline.com/589449/eve-premium_008261_589449-mac.dmg - the app reports its version as 2.1.573094, modified/created on Wednesday 21 August 2013.

Where is the client getting the "583835" number from? It looks like the patch server is sending the wrong information back:

OSX client wrote:

The 583835 message is only given to you if you bypass the launcher by starting the client directly and have an out of date client, the client will attempt to fall back to an outdated method of updating that is no longer in use since the launcher was introduced.

I do not know why your installation is being reported as broken, is this a system error message or a launcher one? It sounds like a system error in which case there isn't much I can do to help other than suggest you get a fresh Sisi install by either copying your Tranquility one and connect it to Singularity (small download) or get a fresh install (large download). In either case this wiki article should come in handy:

I just tried to start up Sisi, had an update, and now it will no longer start up. I had no problems starting it up a few hours ago.
The eve.exe does start in taskmanager, but it doesn't truely start.

bypassing the launcher didn't help. Again it does start the eve.exe in taskmanager, but further than that it doesn't go.

Trying EVE repair now.

The last Singularity patch resulted unfortunately in a broken client. Oops We reverted this client and everything should work again.

For those who patched to the broken version: Kill all EVE processes through the task manager and then start the launcher again. Unfortunately the launcher cannot be started while broken EVE processes are hanging around.

Better Sisi than TQ ;)
But good to hear, now I just have to wait for my launcher to update the god knows how many MB after I did the repair >.<

how exactly do you manage to break the client and not notice it until is deployed?

This is a system error, reported when I double-click on the application freshly unpacked from the DMG downloaded on Wednesday. This is not an old, out-of-date client but the most recently updated client as linked in the OP. Note: link in OP has been changed between my previous post and this one.

I'll try that next.

I see the OP has been updated to point at the "Download EVE test server clients" page. I'm in the process of downloading the full client installer too.

More news as it comes to hand.

08:15+1000 - Using a client duplicated from my current Tranquility client, and renamed to "EVE Online Singularity" I issue the command "open -a /Applications/EVE\ Online\ Singularity.app --args /server:87.237.38.50" and am presented with the launcher window. The launcher is now downloading a launcher update.

08:25+1000 - Launcher is "creating eve_online_590158-590979_mac.patch"
08:27+1000 - Launcher is downloading 1.19GB, full client download is up to 1.15GB out of 7.76GB
09:20+1000 - Launcher has successfully launched EVE Online, client is now acquiring bulk data
09:28+1000 - EVE Online is successfully running on Singularity, installer download is up to 2.7GB out of 7.76

Sickness and nausea continue to be induced by Stargate jump transition.
Please provide an off switch just as you do for Camera Shake.

Note, excessive use of the F10 map key eventually breaks map garbling graphics in the map as well as the 3D rendering of grid on exiting map. Ultimately, breaking client.

in fact I do, which is why a error that can be reproduced with just running the client, surprises me as not being seen before. either way dosnt matters anymore, fixed already.

Hi!
I still cant log in into Singularity!
I have 10 days from my subscription, i'm making the renewal in a few days.
The last mirror is a month old, when will it updated?

This site shows, that there is a new mirror, but the client still said "Invalid username/password"

I coded in C++ before and I'd like to know how you compile and release code without knowing its broken also?

Nobody is testing the complied patch to the client by seeing if the client will accept the patch successfully?
