Are mission rats and belts rats balanced in what they drop or are there rats that should be just avoided because of poor drops?

drones drop nothing

serpentis in general drop very little.

mercs drop tons of stuff

sansha and blood raiders have very good salvage as do angels.

Salvaging usually becomes worth doing once you get level 4 missions and above Battlecruiser rats, not always and there are exceptions of course.

Hi sec belt rats really really really suck.

Level 4 mission rats have great drops.

The only thing to fear from the belt rats worth killing is they they live in the "PvP on" zones of New Eden.
