Tackler questions

Hi, me and couple of friends came back to try eve again, we all just got a small glimpse about a year ago so were all still pretty much noobs.

I was wondering how to set up a tackler to help my corp mates. We play in highsec and get troubled by a very annoying ninja-looter / salvager. There are couple of uses that the ship needs to handle (or i could make 3 different setups, but if one could do it all, it would be great) :

1. tackle and slow a small frig sized ninja ship like heron
2. tackle and be able to survive for a while against a BC sized ship like harbringer.

(so that a BS-sized pve ship could actually be able to hit him.)

3. tackle & jam / ewar / help a corpmate out and be able to survive for a while against a BC while a corpmate shoots with a BC (pve fit) of his own.

I got an extra rupture and hurricane hull, might those be able to do the job or do I need to invest in something more specific.
Is there something im missing from the whole consept or do I just try to fit a warp scrambler, webifier, microwarp and hope for the best?

It sounds like you have 3 pilots. I suggest the following combo:

Mission in your PvE boat.... when the ninja salvager comes in with the Heron, warp in your tackle frigate.

This may or may not be able to catch the heron, but it can definitely defend wrecks from it. Don't attack until the character is suspect.

When the suspect leaves (to reship into the Harbringer), or perhaps even before the ninja salvager ever comes onto field, bring in this guy and cloak him up about 70 km's from where the engagement will happen. When the harbring warps in, tackle him with the tristan, decloak the blackbird and jam him out, and then shoot him from a safe range with your mission boat. If they bring in more, like an exeq or an Augoror, don't attack it with anything other than the blackbird. You can attempt to jam it to finish off the Harby, or you can just keep shooting the harby and ignore it (maybe ask for help in local to come and jam off the help). If you don't attack anything other than the harby that you keep jammed with the blackbird, they can't attack back. If you can't maintain jams on the harby, warp your mission ship and the black bird out, and you only lose the tristan.

Note, the tristan should kill any drones released by your opponent, as they will be a threat.

This fit should be a reasonable compromise between helping with DPS during the mission and tackling the ninja looter. Since you mentioned your friends are somewhat low skilled, this should be in their skill bracket. If you can use tech 2, go for it. Probably the most skill-intensive item are the ECM drones.

The most expensive part is the faction scrambler (and this is the cheapest faction scrambler). Anything with enough warp core stabilizers to be able to warp away will have such a short targeting range that they'll need to be snuggling right up to you.

When you are missioning, use the hobgoblins as that will be about half the dps that the ship can provide. Rapid light missiles are intended as anti-frigate missiles.

The Arbitrator gets a bonus to tracking disruptors, and these will force the Harbinger close enough to get/stay tackled. When the opponent shows up with their BC, switch the drones to ECM drones. Since a Harbinger is a turret ship, have all your ships orbit close and fast and let the tracking disruptors cut the opponent's DPS down. The ECM drones have a small chance of jamming.

I suggest going away or ignoring him, any semi competent pvper will easily kill all of you, if you agress you give them just what they want.

Also no , dont fit faction mods on a meta arbi.

I quess I should have given little more info on the situation.

I'm missioning in a Maelstrom/hurricane, 1 friend has a Megathron, 1 is flying a hurricane / hurricane navy issue. Problem is that our long range big guns are too slow for him in a small ship and if im salvaging / collecting the loot after a mission, im prolly alone there and cant do anything to his Harbringer.

Shouldn't we be able to kill his Harbringer if I fit for example a Hurricane with some webs and scrambles so my friends would hit him with their pve fitted ships?

Another reason also think I should maybe fit a hurricane for the tackling job is that he is used to seeing a hurricane, would be a surprice for him to get tackled instead of me just salvaging in my hurricane.. If i bring some interceptor type ship there, im sure he will just bug out right before I get into range.

Your need is not in aggressing him with what he sees/scans.

1) fit a heavy neutralizer, dual web, and warp disruptor in one of the BS. Tackle and kill if he comes to web range.
1) is countered by instinct or ship scanner.

2) have one pilot accompany you in a cloaked tackle fitted armor tanked stealth bomber, tackle him with it and kill.
2) do not engage him after first kill until timers are done, dock up.
2) is very hard to counter.

Is this worth your time?

Making life harder for the ninja is definitely worth it in my mind. How much am I willing to spend skilltraining/time/ISK to achieve this, well I need to think about it..

Stealth bomber waiting for him to appear is bit too much, but fitting my salvager-hurricane with dualweb & scrambler & 2 small neuts should be enough for the Heron?

You could always find out where he lives and then beat him the f*** up .
( where he docks, not in the Irl sense)
