No you don't.

All I have to do is choose the correct desktop icon, double click on it and enter the password. First client takes about two to three seconds to get to the login. Every additional client startup is basically instantaneous.

So

1. Choose icon (and I know, where to find each of my desktop icons)
2. Double click
3 .Enter Password
4. Done

I also have an icon to start the launcher and check for backups.

Starting the client after login through the launcher takes significantly longer for no apparent reason. I also experience duplicated on screen startup text messages. They clearly messed something up.

Remove standings and insurance.

You must be old because who has that many icons on their desktop.. I'll tell you who.. Old people..

Okay so you shaved off maybe and I mean MAYBE, a whole 2 seconds with a crap ton of more icons on your desktop congrats.. Still doesn't take away that anyone having this many problems with the launcher is an inbred imbecile

EVE has a launcher?

Havent seen it since the great CCP launcher fail of last May. I start EVE directly with the EXEfile. Everytime there's an update I just run the repair tool and it patches the client.

I totally agree that the new launcher is rubbish, I never had any problems in the past with this new improved launcher everything is worse.

I often have it freeze, hang go totally black or white and have to close it and open it again and try multiple times to login, never had any issues with the old method and I don't really see many positives to this new launcher in its current state.

Start wide, expand further, and never look back

i have to agree here, i dont see what the launcher adds, and am not fond of those rumors saying i will soon be forced to use it

did ccp get jelous that every other game ever has a launcher and they wanted to be "like the others"
or is there some hidden point i just dont get?

It isn't that bad. I enjoy being able to see the news and quickly access account management, etc. Yes, there is probably more they could do to make it better, but it is pretty decent, even if I do use the workaround. If the workaround is going to be removed in the future, you may as well get used to the launcher.

There are three things you say to the police. "Yes, sir", "No, sir" and "I want a lawyer". There is one thing you say to Concord, "Wait, it wasn-"
