Screen blackout after jump gate animation

OK... I tried going to the technical support page with this issue. But apparently, you need a freaking 2 year degree in computer technology before you're allowed to post there. Seriously - computer logs? Screenshots? Confirm workarounds? What are they talking about? I don't even know how to verify what hardware I'm running. I just came here to play a damn game....

Anyway, rant over.

When I activate a warp gate, I get the jump animation and come out the other side and... my screen goes black for about 5 seconds. Then the game resumes. I only have this problem on my desktop. My laptop has no such issues.

Any ideas what's going on here?

Sometimes my computer does that too. I really just don't worry about it.

Make sure your video card supports EVE. Example: Shader Model 3 is required.

You can try updating your video drivers, or reducing the rendering settings. Nvidia recently released a bad driver, and downgrading driver was the temporary fix, but Nvidia has corrected the problem in the current release.
