Let me set the destination in the destination bar

Good idea, but until it is finished here is a workaround I am using:

I have a private chat channel with the MotD containing stations I frequently travel to as links. So if I want to go to Jita 4 4 I open the channel, right-click the station and Set Destination.

It's a chat channel thus it works across alts.

Yeah I've heard of a few friends who do that, or keep an item in each trade hub station so it shows up in assetts. These are however, all solutions to symptoms, the real problem is that the process for setting a destination is difficult, unintuitive, hidden, and long.

Use the assets work-around all the time ...

What ever they (we) come up with it should auto fill. As you type the system name then planet then station/moon it should (could) suggest the spelling ... google'esk style. If you can't spell it or remember it accurately, you can't set as destination.

Its a database / spreadsheet in space. .. it shouldn't be this difficult.

So despite my best efforts, this wasn't chosen as one of the 100 little things by the CSM people. So, I'm hoping to get more public exposure and hopefully get this in Odd 1.1.

I can only like the OP once. I have always found the method of finding systems arbitrarily involved when you should be able to do it from the standard ship UI.

Can't you just use the people and places search? I keep it minimised on screen all the time

Sadly, I don't think it is going to be, le sigh. Maybe one day I'll get a blue post.

To set a destination currently, I hit F10 to open the map→type system name into search box→hit enter→right click→set destination

This is a good idea, but if you're not already using an a text box and auto-linking to set destination (or the assets window), you're doing it wrong.

Since the map takes 60 to 90 seconds to show up for me, for some reason....

+1 great idea

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.
