Word to the wary, do NOT turn on dual training if you are going to be away from your computer beyond the end of the dual training period. If you do, then you can get screwed out of SP, even if you do not have more than one character in training at the time dual training ends.

The problem is this: When dual training ends, it will pause ALL characters on the account, except the character with the highest SP, even if that character has NO skills queued and is NOT in fact training anything. If you have a lower SP character training, then it WILL be paused, even if it is the ONLY character on the account with any skill in training.

THIS IS WORKING AS INTENDED ACCORDING TO CCP SUPPORT.

Thanks to this stupidtastic design, I lost four days of SP on my main, even though I carefully planned the skill queues on both characters on my account to ensure that only my main would be training when the dual training period ended. Dual training don't care. It will pause your main anyway, even if the higher SP character that it allows to "continue" training has nothing in its queue.

CCP's response to my request for SP reimbursement or skill advancement to recover the lost days: Go **** up a rope.

There was a time when CCP customer support gave a ****, and when something like this would have been handled properly instead of being dismissed with a copy-and-paste "working as intended" bullshit response (after taking a week to even answer the ticket no less). One of the reasons I continued to subscribe to this game in the past is because of the amazingly good customer care. No more. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that within a month of CCP hiring Sean Decker their CS department starts taking pages from EA's support drone playbook.

It works in the stupidest way it possibly could, yes.

Sounds like we need a queue for the skill queues.

At the time dual training ended, only one character on the account had any skills queued up. That character had Logistics V queued, which was training before I left, and had about 20 days to run, well beyond when I would return. The problem is, it got paused when dual training ended four days before I got home. That happened even though the other character (the one I had turned on dual training just to polish some stuff off on), had nothing in its queue, and had finished its last skill before dual training ended.

My main got paused because it had less total SP, even though it was the only character with anything queued up, had been training since before dual training was turned on, and was the only character left training when dual training ran out.

Yes, and CCP has patiently explained that for purposes of dual training, the highest SP char on an account is considered to be the main. If dual train time runs out, the only skill queue that will continue to run is the one belonging to the highest SP character.

This is not news; it was explained before the feature was even released on TQ.

Pay better attention next time.

Only an idiot would think that this is sensible default behavior. The bottom line is that whoever coded this up was just too lazy to implement "select the highest SP character THAT HAS A SKILL IN TRAINING and allow that one to continue training, then pause all others." It is patently obvious that coding it to behave the way it does is sooner or later going to screw anyone who ever has a character they want to add skills to which is not the lowest SP toon on the account. Since "topping off" characters on an account is the use case they expressly designed this feature for, it's plainly stupid to implement it in a way that is guaranteed to fail for that use case in an obvious and unavoidable way.

After the point at which I enabled dual training on this account, there was literally nothing I could have done to avoid this problem. (Well, that's not quite true. There is one thing I could have done: I could have opened a second account, paid a transfer fee to transfer the character off, then paid another transfer fee to transfer it back when I returned . . . thus completely defeating the entire purpose of "dual training.")

I have no other skills that can be trained on the higher SP alt, so there was nothing I could do to continue training on that toon. I could not do anything to stop the lower SP character from getting paused, because I was out of town and without internet access for ten days. I paid my sub. I queued a skill that would run well beyond the time I had to be out of town and without internet access. I clicked apply. If I had never turned on dual training, that character would have gone right on training the way it was supposed to. If whoever implemented this feature was not a lazy idiot, then it also would have worked out fine.

But because of the amazingly stupid way this feature was coded, it screwed me out of four days of sub time that I paid for. And CCP's response, instead of compensating their paying customer by simply restoring what was lost, is to just ignore the complaint for a week and then brush it off with "working as intended."
