Character Bazaar: WHEN did the character prices tank?

So,

I seem to remember 40-50m SP characters selling for around 20B less than a year ago.

Anyone have insight into why character prices have tanked? I'm seeing offers of 10-15b for 50-60m SP toons?

Is the market just flooded with toons?

You remember wrongly, prices were never that high.

Ice mining specialized characters have tanked, because: no more afk ice mining.

Otherwise prices were not as high as you remember.

73% of the statistics found on the forums are made up.

The other 42% are honest numbers.

I bought a 56.8mil SP pilot 3 years back for 14 B so they seem to be in line with pricing back then.

Bought a 45mil char for 10B just over a year ago. Your stats are wrong.

I bought a 65m SP character for 20 bil a while back. I wholeheartedly acknowledged he was slightly on the expensive side, but 20 certainly wasn't unreasonable. He had the exact skill set I was looking for, and no other characters for sale at the time were nearly as appealing, so in the end it was worth it to me. 20 bil for a 40-50m SP character sounds ridiculously expensive, I don't think that sounds right at all.
