Player built permanent stargates would be an interesting addition to the game.

Any thoughts on how this would impact the game if added?

I dunno, it'd probably allow us to traverse the gap between at least two systems, increasing mobility.

They are permanent until CCP let us destroy them.

I have brought this idea up several times.

The player made gates would be called Sacbeob Gates.

Each size of gate small, medium and large would allow various sized ships to pass through them.

Each Sacbeob would be manned like a POS where fuel would have to be added to keep it running as well as a Toll Collector being present to collect ISK from travelers using the gate.

The Sacbeob would also be included in War Dec's meaning they could be destroyed thus requiring them to be defended.

Each Sacbeob would only be able to transport a certain distance.

Small -10 jumps
Medium - 15 jumps
Large - 10 jumps

The gates would in fact be Cynosural Gates built around a static structure which means a start and finish gate would be needed to complete the link.

Smaller nodes would be able to be placed in a system off of the main route between two Sacbeobs. The only drawback would be that the nodes would be a one way jump and could not be used to accessed to the main transport line between the two gates.

The Sacbeob Node would be accessed when the pilot first enters either end of the Sacbeob Gates where a menu would pop up asking which destination the pilot wanted to travel to either Node A,B,C,D in system 1,2,3,4 or to the Exit Sacbeob in system X.

Each Sacbeob Node would also have a charge to use it and could also be attacked during a War Dec and would also need fuel to keep it running.

Each Sacbeob would not have a shielding system like a POS does unless the owning corp is at war. During such a time of war the shielding of the Gate would go up requiring a password to enter and then use the gate otherwise the shielding system remains down and a password is not needed to access and use the Sacbeob Gate.

You would also have to have Operating Permits to operate the Gates and Node in the systems they are placed in where if the Permits expires the Gates offline and cannot be used but may still be attacked where the shielding system will not function until the Permit is paid for in full.

I think such a system would be very exciting for New Eden Pod Heads to build and operate.

They'll let us build star gates and forget to let us blow them up so like stations eve will end up populated with things that in 3 years nobody wants or cares about and can't do anything about at all.
