scamming is the purest and most skill-based form of pvp in eve. without scamming I would never have played this terrible game at all.

It's a stupid, poorly justified policy that is another slap in the face to the "Darwinist sandbox" that this game is purported to be. There is nothing as awesome as a 3-day old newbie scamming a dumb multi-year veteran mission runner who doesn't stop and wonder why a 3-day old newbie is apparently in charge of recruitment for a 2000+ member corporation.

why is a GM interfering with a (even if it was a) scam that doesn't involve real money trading? they say this a sandbox or CCP has been lying to me all these time?

new player here, i've only been in the game for a couple of months and one of the reasons why i did chose this game over any other mmos out there is that this is a sandbox. if we are dumb enough to get scammed, it's our own fault!

Are CCP planning to change the title to World of Eve on the upcoming winter patch?

When someone from Eve University is telling off CCP for catering to the carebears you know there is a big problem.

Scamming has never been against the rules in EvE online and this is a blatant, transparent abuse of authority from someone who is obviously biased because they are actively playing a game they should be administrating instead. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Uhh.. this only applies to the recruitment channel..

Really? How is that going to work? What if they claim the scam came from the recruitment channel. So this rule is either a) completely stupid and unenforceable or b) has ridiculous far reaching consequences. The other option is for them to what investigate every reported scam, look at timestamps in recruitment and then make some kind of judgement. So I guess option c) is CCP rehire that 20% of staff they just fired to investigate claims that all scams originated in recruitment (granted some % of the scamees are too stupid to even claim this, that's why they get scammed.)

I got scammed into joining GoonWaffe, there should be a rule against that too.

A lot of MMO rules are unenforceable, like macro mining, there's no way to know.

Other stupid rules exist, therefore this stupid rule is ok. That's the best argument you could come up with in support of this idiocy?

Wow. I mean, I can see were the concern for new players is...but really? Ugh.

At MOST just include a warning that scams can occur in the recruitment channel.

This is CCP's channel, just like the Help channel and the Rookie channel. They can enforce whatever rules they so choose in their channels.

Local will never be effected like this. Local is a public channel. These are private (as they have ownership).

If you want to do recruitment scamming, just don't have the channel open and you are fine.

What if the scamee claims that they were in the recruitment channel with you at some point and that is where the scam began. how many man hours should CCP devote to investigating every single scam that occurs anywhere in Eve to see if it in any way had anything to do with the recruitment channel?

Simple. They would ask when this supposed encounter in the channel took place (as in both players being joined). Check the log. Takes 5 minutes.
If the scammers don't join the channel, they will have all the evidence they need. And the scamee will get a nice "don't abuse the petition system" message.

If you could murder someone without ever getting caught, does that make it okay?
