I would put forward the suggestion that a pilot so callous as to dump a person into space in the first place is unlikely to be bothered by "naming and shaming".

And people save lives every days. Doctors, police forces, the Sisters, relief workers. Hell, most vaccination in the Federation is administered by AIMED drones, meaning that the single largest life-saving campaign in New Eden is all but entirely automated. Under normal circumstances, such philanthropic exercises pass without comment. Serving your fellow man is normal, acceptable, good behaviour. Noble, certainly, but I don't much see that what you're doing is worth more recognition than the efforts of, say, a paediatric cardiologist, or one of those Sisters programs where they deliver vaccines to frontier colonies.

This is basically just an ego exercise, and it's long since got old.

Piece said, I shan't crap up the thread any further.

DSTON is pleased to report that 33,000 former slaves have entered our Matriculation program via KSAF. Planetary infrastructure has been established in Khanid space to meet the material demands of the this influx and anticipated future growth. Right now the focus will be on helping those in the most deplorable conditions. Sadly, this encompasses pretty much all of Khanid Transport Storage Slave markets. KSAF reports that this group represents a mere 1/10 of those in a single station who desperately need help, not mentioning those held planet-side awaiting transport to station slave markets. The task is daunting.

A three-can rescue one of which was jettisoned while we were in process of the other rescues. The groups rescued are recorded below.

It is what it is. We understand that no one else is remotely obligated to be interested in the minutia of these rescues. Each number whether it be 1 or 100 represents a group of people whose lives we value. No one need take note or interest unless by choice. However, those we rescue are quick to value and appreciate that they are archived on this capsuleer forum. Their lives are held equal to those of the so called elite, demigods, masters of the universe...

Mr. Hakatain and others that grow tired of this thread,

While I can not be certain, I don't think Momaki is asking for recognition. I like reading his thoughts, and while I don't agree with the name and shame thing, other than that I find this thread a bright star in the black of this forum. It may even change my life, perhaps it already has.

Because of the prolonged existence of this thread, someone was inspired to save people from death cans himself, causing several hundred additional lives to be rescued. This can happen every time someone hears of one of these rescues. I hope that you'll be able to agree that you growing tired of this thread is a small price to pay, perhaps even a price you might gladly volunteer to pay, for the increase in saved lives.

Peace,

What are we willing to admit we feel? I struggled recently with this question after a conversation that occurred at our recent retreat in Saisio. A friend of mine took offence at something I had said in response to my offence at something he had said. Oh my! The last thing I want to do is to embarrass myself in drama more suited to teenage girls than to grown men. However, it got me asking myself how often in paying attention to my own feelings do I purposely or instinctively hurt another in the same way. My feelings are not more important than anyone else's. Often, we attempt to cloak our feelings of offence or hurt in clever words, biting words, critical words, etc. It is so much harder to take the time to intelligently craft words that seek clarification and understanding, honestly admitting a feeling of being slighted. Instinct seldom generates helpful words. Time and thought can generate helpful words if tempered by mercy, patience, and forgiveness.

"Are you going to kill us?" I started a bit at the question as it was asked of me. I had exited my pod and gone to see the 7 people we had rescued. They were a group of young Brutor men rescued from the first can listed below. The question was direct and straight to the point. I quickly answered, "No, I'm not going to kill you. We are here to help you." The look on his face showed that he had heard such things in the past and reason to doubt such an answer. It reminds me that trust is one of the hardest things to build and to hold. In particular because none of us is completely trustworthy. Our fallibility means that any who put trust in us take a risk in doing so.

And so...this young man was invited to accompany the Mayflower crew on the next day's first run. 13 were rescued and the man was able to observe the whole process. We had discovered that he himself has some EMT training and so he assisted one of our ship board medics. The experience moved him part way toward trust, but not all the way. He told me afterwards, "I have met too many sincere people who promised good but in the end delivered harm. I do not trust you yet, but time will tell." I've decided that I like this man and I have to respect such an honest and circumspect view. I hope we will eventually earn his trust.

"You are going to kill us." This time it was said with a grin and a chuckle. The young Brutor man from yesterday went along on several more runs and was allowed to bring a couple of his friends. Now he is telling us he might want to train to become one of our medical care crew aboard the Mayflower. I told his that this path should be chosen carefully and with much thought. Many options are now open to him. I hope he will consider them all carefully. Serving on our rescue ships is dangerous, but we would be happy to have one such as him.

In other news: We have moved a large number of staff from the former center in Ealur to a large reception center in Khanid space. Along with them goes tons of material; food, water, medicine, infrastructure. When KASF is ready, we are ready.

Of 2879 people aboard the deathcan, we rescued 800. The Redemption has a passenger capacity of 812. We recovered the 12 from the blue can and went on to the yellow and discovered the large number. We did not wait out the suspect tag but used cloak to return since the can was within gate activation range. But, when we returned the can was gone. We do not know if someone else rescued the remainder or if the can disintegrated.

Ston remains away on other business.

This time there was enough time and we got them all out; all 5144. It took seven trips to complete the task, but each and every one made it out. When I was a Disciple of Ston, I was not allowed to engage in verbal aggressiveness. Now that I am not, I indulge now and then. Let me put this mildly: What sort of soul-less BASTARD would jettison over 5000 people leaving them to die horribly? And where is CONCORD? Where were Amarian customs? They were all patrolling the gate. They would have left these people die as the can disintegrated.

Hopefully Ston will finish up whatever he's doing and get back to his normal routine soon.

At the conclusion of recent Matriculation Center business, I made contact with an anonymous humanitarian who arranged the transfer of 812 former slaves into the care of the Disciples of Ston. This contact has potential for an ongoing relationship whereby our organization may be taking on the care, education, training, etc. (Matriculation) of many others. Peace to you sir.

Thanks are due to Manwe Todako for taking time to cover my patrols while I was gone. He is a better pilot than I and was the man for the moment for the 5000+ people to be rescued.

I have resumed my regular patrols.

Continued violence and vengeful blood lust continue to dominate the news and happenings around our cluster. Such things demonstrate the need to establish the fortitude of peace at the core of our souls. We must starve the vicious fires of vengeance and hate until they are dead and cold. Feed the impulse of peace until it can withstand the petty instinct to get even. Peace to us.

Please refrain from posting private communications between pilots. This is a breach of CRC Guidelines.

My apologies for breaking regulations and to the Disciples for any embarrassment it may have caused. I assume this is in reference to my interaction with pilot Phyrike regarding the 5000+ slaves he jettisoned into space since that entry has been removed. For anyone who may have missed it, the breach of CRC Guidelines involved the direct posting of an evemail response to my request of him to provide a reason for the jettison of the slaves. I believe it was rule #9 that I violated. I apologize to Phyrike for posting his response rather than reporting his response. Reporting a response allows for plausible deniability whereas posting does not. Its a good reminder to re-read the rules now and then
