Same thing here...this was after patch...

1. I restart the game
2. I restart my computer
3. I turn the circuit breaker to where it's sets

and instead of 5 minutes, now I'm disconnected the moment I entered the game...

Found an issue with my internets.
Where all though i'm with Orange, i'm connected not with my external IP to tranq but via an IP address associated with BT.
This IP does not show up during a Traceroute which is weird.

Until i can get to chat with someone who isn't indian and can understand what i'm saying its hard getting Orange to understand what the issue is.

My disconnection problems have disappeared just as quickly as they started.

Some routers are programmed not to respond with a name.
This is done on purpose to prevent certain information from being exposed.

I escalated my issue after an initial ticket being placed with CCP.
The last few patches may have had a fix or CCP may have pushed harder with their ISP to trace were the issue is.

Hopefully many others have had their disconnections resolved.

I've had this issue for 2 days now, nothing has changed from when it didnt happened till now.

I have 10 accounts and 2 computers with different modems connected to each (same ISP, 2x independant internet connections)

weirdly, only 1 of them is the one having the problem, checked with ISP, no issues on their side, changed all my infrastructure, cables/routers/modems/etc... still happening, cant be online for more than 10 minutes if much.

Just now, i barely made it to the character selection screen on the accounts having the issue, and BAM! socket closed...

Opened a petition since yesterday, i woulda tought this kind of issus regarding connections should be CCP's priority, as we are NOT getting the game we paying for.

I cant enjoy the game by connectiong sessions of 10 minutes with 5 min downtime (Server status unknown (Offline mode)) after each socket closed error

Literally, if this keeps happening CCP will end up losing at least 10 subscriptions from me, and perhaps many others that wont bare with the 4 years of not being able to fix this issue.

im willing to provide logs and what not, but either way, if the tracet log is not hlpful i would like to know WHAT is.

P.S. really 4 years and still happening? shoulda been more than enough time for CCP and their "l33t team" to fix it or at least provide a workaround

Amazing

Since the latest patch i'm having no issues at all, strange that seeing as it was supposed out of CCP's hands (according to them)
Probably spoke to soon, after reactivating my accounts again yesterday it will be broken tonight.

I live in hope its fixed but i bet Red fed don't Pirate

I have had this problem a lot, even after Odyssey. However, as silly as it sounds, if I ping Tranquility before I start the game and leave it pinging, I have never gotten another socket closed error. Any time I forget to do this I always get the socket closed error.

I think it forces the hit to avoid lost packets. Not sure but it works for me, perhaps it will work for you too.

What do you mean by pinging tranquility?

I have been running Ping Plotter against CCP server IP 87.237.38.200 with the following settings-

Sampling= Unlimited
Trace Interval= 5 sec
Samples to include= ALL

I am running all 3 of my accounts on the same system with no Socket Disconnect problems. But if I try and play without PP running I get disconnected right away.

will throw my hat in the ring here, since Inferno i have had 8 disconnects for a closed socket, prior to inferno i never even knew this window existed. And now i get disconnected and oddly get 2 popups at the same time for the error every time lol

The window for the disconnect is new with Inferno - before Inferno your client restarted automatically after being disconnected (without giving a reason on what happened). Getting 2 popups at the same time might be a (minor) bug - please make a screenshot the next time this happens and attach it to a bugreport (please add my name in the subject of the bugreport).

I keep having the same issue. And it keeps getting worse. Several times today now I logged in and tried to type in chat to find out I got disconnected again. I have no other problems or lag with anything else off the internet. Have no other problems with other games. Just Eve, the least demanding internet game I play.

I logged in today about 5 or 6 times just to be able to add to my skill que and save it. Each time I got closed socket before I could even update.

a few days ago I was using 2 clients scouting with one and transporting with another. I kept losing connection on one client, but my scout client never lost connection. Usually all my accounts will close at the same time, but not always.

This all started about the time we kept having unscheduled shutdowns and is getting even worse now.

before I was using Wifi connection and tried a hardwire connection which didn't help the problem.

This just happened today http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/548/hbdq.jpg

I have tried everything I can think of and I still keep disconnecting. Sometimes it will show "socket Closed" 2 or 3 times in overlaying windows. The one where my ship was green happened on several accounts however I fixed it by clearing cashe.

I am now on a new computer and using Ethernet cable instead of WiFi. I can't make any sense of the Ping Blotter data, I don't know what any of this means.

I am now to the point where it is pointless to try and play, I'm not "pointing the finger" and blaming CCP however either way you look at it i'm paying for a service that I can't even stay connected to. It all started happening around when we had the unscheduled downtimes. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have EVE allowed thru firewall in my computer and thru the router as well.

Resetting your Modem by unplugging it from the electricity for several minutes seems to be working for a lot of people.
(it defenitly worked for me, I got disconnected several times a day)

After that you should have no more sockets closed problem.

The problem is NOT on CCP side

For the few of us playing on Acer laptops.... It's us, not them. The Anthero wireless adaptors in the Acer laptops causes a lot of wireless modems to constantly reset the connection. Get an external wireless adaptor and shut off the onboard one and you will see the problem magically disappear.

I have no idea why this is the case, but there seems to be no drivers that can fix the issue available.

OK I'm getting this too, it's making the game unplayable at times

- I'm getting this both on a wired and wireless connection.
- I've tried the constant pings to the Eve server suggestion with no noticeable difference
- I've rebooted my router

My traceroute is showing 8.41% packet loss to te-4-2.car5.London1.Level3.net wonder if that has something to do with it?

So here is the deal, i get this constantly at home but not at work.

But, I swear, if i connect wireless bridge to another SSID/router (neighbor) with my DAP-2553 then it stops happening. its like an issue with certain routers. My client pc's IP is DMZ on both routers.

Home where it happens:
64 windows 7
Cox cable thru a wireless bridge to router, same subnet
cox cable resi -> POS linksys wrt54g2 -> DAP-2553 as wireless client bridge to -> POS netgear gigbit switch -> cat6 -> Broadcom Extreme 57xx giabit ethernet

Work it does not happen:
64bit windows 7
Cox business 20mb connection
Domain infrastructure, cisco switches
full security, vlans, and av
