Keep the unknown unknown: disable the discovery scanner in w-space

Crossposting from the wormhole forum, at the suggestion of other players: Disable the discovery scanner in w-space.

Having wormholes appear as they spawn on the discovery scanner is making w-space too friendly. I make an argument for disabling the discovery scanner in w-space.

This modification would also have the benefit of delineating the different types of space, rather than homogenising them. Having a pilot from high-sec enter a wormhole and click away a feeble warning is one thing, but have them be shown no local and no discovery scanner would at least instil a sense of entering a type of space that demands your attention.

Giving this a "Like" because w-space needs its mystique and the discovery scanner removes quite a bit of it.

I could definitely see the appeal, yes. Particularly since a new wormhole spawn is now automatically and instantly known, therefore making it much easier to be aware of an intruder then before, yes?

"Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

This is precisely the issue, yes.

I like this idea but would also recommend moving wspace ore sites back into signatures. With no need to drop probes to find the ore sites it would be possible to attack a mining op without the miners ever having a chance no matter how diligent they are with d scan and probes if this change is made.

Just disable it everywhere.

Odissey promised a new Apocrhypya, new unknow frontiers to explore and bla bla and what we got is a trivialization of exploration and probing and a mere graphic redesign for the scanning interface.

I would agree if not for your 25 man armor gangs with guardians and ewar blobbing the poop out of everyone out of c5 wormholes.

There is next to no difference between the discovery scanner and the aniom scanner + discovery probes people were using before. You can't bring back "mystique" that was never there before.

I'm still shocked they changed it in the first place. It was pretty obvious that grav sites in WH space were going to be worthless afterwards.

not only w-space. space should be the final frontier, not the useless stuff between the sigs.

I should buy an Ishtar.

to take advantage of "discovery" probes (i assume you mean DSPs), you had to:
- know that they exist
- train for them
- have them fit on your ship
- actually use them

if you fail at any of the above, you should have to deal with not knowing what is out there.
