Launcher issues. Are they real?

So I need some help with the new launcher, submitted a support ticket and after a few messages back and forth was informed;
Quote:
The launcher is working for most of the player base.
I'm curious as to how many actually use the launcher?

Quote:
Therefore we would have to assume there is something on your computer or some setting on your computer that is interfering with the launcher. You could try closing down any programs you may have running in the background and seeing if you find one that is interfering with the launcher
We went through the process of shutting down other programs and unneeded processes after the 2nd message (this is the 8th and final reply) but this is the easiest cop out for "we don't know what the problem is and can't be bothered with just 1 players issues so we will blame it on you - your computer and leave you with it".

Quote:
You can however skip the launcher by using the exefile.exe in the bin folder and then using the repair tool when you need to update the client. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Is there anything else we can assist you with or would you like us to close this ticket?
Why if the launcher is not to be a part of the game do we even have it? Are there plans somewhere in the future to get the launcher working for "ALL" the player base or is "most of the player base" good enough? How many of those using eve.exe to get into the game are doing so due to issues with the launcher? Can't be too many as CCP state the launcher is working for most of the player base, so I can only presume the eve.exe option is there only because people don't like the launcher or to simply give them a choice.

What makes up "most of the player base",? How many are using the alternative login due to issues with the launcher but can't be bothered contacting support due to the lack of support?

My launcher issues; not caching usernames, not saving settings - resetting to default settings after each patch, asked to accept EULA for some accounts (not all) after each patch.

I don't...

I use the launcher after DT to check if there was an update. And then launch via the normal EXEFILE.

It is a slow and slugging poorly developed launcher. There is no two ways about that fact. It works fine with no issues.. but hell...

Run the launcher in admin mode?
Change the eve folder to allow write access?

Sounds like the launcher doesn't have write access to where it wants to store the information, so every time you launch it, it's starting from scratch. That isn't a launcher issue, as the launcher works, it's like they said, something on your end.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Using the launcher on 3 different boxes and except for the initial breakdown when it was launched I haven't had any issues on any of the them.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Always working correctly for me unless the login system with wich the launcher has to interact with is down. But then thats normal...

Thanks but already been through that. The launcher is in admin mode, compatibility mode set to WinXP, and eve folder full write access. Still no joy, after the latest patch (a few hours ago) nothing was cached, after logging in, it remembered 3 accounts as I logged them in. Closed the launcher, decided to login another char half and hour later and 1 account cached (the 1st I entered).

Do you have the "Close the EVE Launcher after starting EVE Online." box checked in the settings? You have to log in with each of them with that box unchecked in order for it to save the information.

As a non-multi boxer she works flawlessly for me besides when SSO is down :D

Sometimes downlaods, and patches before I'm done with my 16 char pass.

Outside of the initial launch issues, launcher has been working fine here. I went in and checked the leave launcher open option since its quite handy when switching between characters on the same account

I uses the launcher...with multiple accounts... and have no problems.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I don't use the launcher to start the game. Only for the occasional update. The launchers interface design is too annoying to even perform a simple task like starting the game.

If your login/pw screen gets greyed out and will not present the required boxes... just change the language and then change language back.

That has been the only problem I've found and it was easy enough to find a fix for.

The launcher is riddled with bugs. I am almost constantly having issues with it.
Some of the many bugs I deal with:
1. The launcher refuses to launch (I see launcher.exe in processes but the window never appears, If I try to run the launcher again it adds more processes but still doesn't launch. I have sometimes been able to get the launcher to work if I forcefully close these with the process viewer than relaunch)
2. The launcher runs but the window is solid black, no buttons, progress bar, anything. It's not just slow, I can wait for many minutes without anything displaying. (My internet connection at this time is fine and EVE servers are working as my brother is able to play on the same network)
3. The launcher lets you log in but the game freezes when you select a character
4. Pressing the play button is more of a suggestion than a command. Sometimes I press it and the text changes to let me know it's loading, then it changes its mind and goes back to saying Play, without launching the game.

In all of these cases, I have seen that my brother has connected to EVE using the same network connection and had no problems so it's definitely the launcher that's got the problems.

If the problem is going to be that technical and specific to your machine, I would suggest running a dxdiag and copying that screen and uploading it to a post in the technical forums.

Sounds like something is up with either your RAM, dx install, maybe a firewall/av issue or something else.

Personally, I would make sure that no firewall/av is turned on at time of play (or allowed the processes), make sure ALL Eve processes are quit. Make sure on a fresh reboot. Change language at black launcher screen (if you have access to the options). Also check and make sure your video card drivers are up to date (nvidia or radeon can go to their website and download their auto updater which scans your computer and checks for latest update based on your OS/vid card).

Launcher user here, download/apply patch seem faster than old version (pre launcher), except the visual difference I still have to enter my password for different accounts (which is also faster) and have now the option to auto run (previous didn't had this)

I have different installations and so different launcher Icons on my bureau for each account, all work fine and faster than ever.

I'm not sure I get this.

Select the appropriate account from the drop down (if it's not already shown), Press "Play".
If you need to switch or start a different character on that account click the "Switch Character" link first.

How is that too annoying? I think you'd be hard pressed to find anything short of it manifesting precognitive abilities that could be more direct.

I also still cannot use the launcher on my main computer.

Support basically told me that HOPEFULLY a future patch will fix it for me.

Horrible customer service.

I use the launcher for multiple accounts. And besides that time when SSO was down and when the Server was getting DDoS'd, I never had any problems with it.
