[Beware] Goonswarm Federation Recruitment Scam

I made a post a few days ago that I'd like to join a 0.0 corp and that I don't have that much time to play, only a few hours per day after I finish up my work with my clients.

I got contacted by FreeBo if I wanted to join [MAGEL] and after he presented me the corp and what space Goonswarm occupies and showed me the map etc, I decided to join them.

Gave him my full API, he asked me to contract my stuff to Tania Delnor so he can jump it to VFK with his jump freighter and to apply to the corp. Did all of it and was supposed to join the corp once this Mister Vee (the CEO) processed my app.

After 2 days of no response and no one logging in, I see that Mister Vee guy online so I convo him to ask about the app and after I told him who I was and all that and waited for 30 minutes for him to answer, he said : "eh, you will have to sort it out with FreeBo" and he left the convo.

Ok, I gave it another day and since none of them logged in so far, I tried to email this FreeBo dude and it say : "You are not allowed to contact FreeBo."

I didn't think scamming went so far into the corp recruitment forums and didn't expect this from an alliance like Goonswarm.

Anyway, I lost an Onyx to a scam by FreeBo, Mister Vee and Tania Delnor but at least I've seen how recruitment goes these days in Eve.

Still looking for a laid back PVP corp to shoot some targets in a few hours that I have to spend per day :)

Why would you contract your stuff to a person you just met? I mean no offence but you were basically just asking to be scammed :/ but we are looking for more members and I promise we wont scam you ;b message me if your interested, You can check out our Killboard and as you can see from it, we are VERY good at killin' c:

Been playing on and off since 2003 and thought I knew all scams but wasn't expecting eve to "evolve" into recruitment scamming. Lesson learned, anyway :)

Can you send me an email with a few details ? (kills on that killboard look nice).

Its been around for ages.. I have no idea how the CFC (PL, Test, Goons, etc) recruit members as they all pretty much want a deposit or move your stuff for you.. ie scam.

lol there is only two ways to get into goons, be in their coalition or pay to be on their forums. It even tells you on their wiki that everything else is a scam.

Should of done your homework.

OP is almost sticky worthy with a bit of rewording ...
Goons almost never recruit through here.
If you think it they do it's most likely a notorious Goon scam. Thought "everyone" knew this, or heard enough stories about Goons shenanigans by now?

Do yourself a favour, mate. If you're looking to join a corp., do a bit of background research on them before handing over anything to them. Anything fishy will soon turn up.

You aren't the first and won't be the last to fall for this scam. Real PvP corps don't ask for your ships or a deposit before joining them. Most do offer free or cheap logistics into their space to help out sub capital pilots. We offer that ourselves. And if you are looking for PvP AND to perhaps extract a little revenge then drop by Morior Invictus Public. We offer laid back PvP, great FCs, and (this is tge best part for you) we shoot Goons daily! We live in NPC space surrounded by Goon Sov, so no CTAs, no SOV warfare, very laid back, and very good at what we do. Drop by for a chat today! The public channel has killboard linky and more info about us. I'll see you in fleet soon!

Maybe that gave you a better picture of some folks. What do you guess why quite some corps in eve do not accept anyone as a corp member who has Goons or Test on his/her employment history?

In general it is a bad idea to just give all your stuff to a person that just convoed you and asked for it. It will always end with you having no stuff anymore.

This has been around for quite some time.

You want into GoonWaffe? Join the Something Awful forums for a while, and hope they like you. Other than that, you could perhaps catch one of the smaller corps in their alliance having a recruitment run.

You want into Dreddit? Join Reddit, and be an active member for a while, and hope they like you. The last part of the previous paragraph also applies in relation to getting into Test.

So wait? You gave all your stuff to a goon BEFORE you even joined the corp? lol! ROFL!!!!!!

Thankyou SO much for posting that! I have done some dumb **** but that definetly takes the cake! Thanks, I feel so much better now. :)

So yeah.. anything a goon has touched with its sticky fingers is a scam and/or an attempt to ruin your personal life. There are simply no exceptions, as you have noticed.

Actually, thanks for posting this sort of thing, and sorry you got scammed.

It really helps out new players, since there are so many corps in this game.

Just changed it slightly. I have had the other 2 be so very kind to offer to move my stuff for free and because I am such a nice guy I would only need to pay half the registration fee.
