Did I just see a metric expletive-ton sized chunk of epic news?

The Ursa is still around?

This is a really good format for conveying an idea. Thanks for taking the time to break it down like this. You've also tackled it from an interesting perspective and I like where you're going with it. Will be filing this. Just a quick note - neither Headfirst nor Dropbear have left CCP.

Thanks! Good news all round!

Really pleasing to see there's so much energy for this sort of thing, on both sides; and we are patient in w-space, are we not?

Live Events are there to support storyline. During the run up to the Incursion expansion, the focus was very much on Sansha's Nation and wormholes, because that's where the storyline narrative was centered to provide logic and reasoning for Incursions in terms of backstory.

Now, we've moved away from w-space for the time being and we're focused on advancing the storylines of the four core empires.

I'm surprised the tactical geniuses at the faction space-pentagons haven't figured out that W-space would be a pretty sneaky way of moving fleets around. Suppose with the technical issues it makes sense, but Wormholes were a game-changer for empires based round gate technology. The fact that they no longer actively features in themes of expansions shouldn't mean it drops from the lore-radar entirely. I would hope.

Knowing what we know about the initial intentions behind W-space, I think there is a general feeling in the lore appreciating W-community that we are the unloved bastard child of the team behind Apocrypha. Some may have grown to tolerate us, but to the rest, we are a limping aberration, gone odd from all that gas.

Maybe a conclusion to reach is that if CCP finds it lacks resource in one area or another ref: live events, the playerbase is rabid to help. I always wondered why more players weren't roped in to add depth/background/narrative to events in Eve.

All we need is a decent editor What?

No idea how much work it would be but what about one new C3 with no moons but dozens (hundreds if possible) of highsec and lowsec entry points?

This wouldn't exclude anyone since you could relatively easily find an entrance. For extra points, make the signatures 100% or at least very easy to resolve.

K-space adventurers would usually get mauled on the entry hole by wormholers but the enormous number of sigs that would appear inside the system would make camping impractical.

When [insert plot point here] is finished set the static back to a normal C3 type. Or why not leave it in place? A voluntary high risk PvP space easily accessible from high sec would be great!

Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec and nullsec.

It's actually not even necessary to make a huge live event. Anyone remember the hole Locus numbering system idea? This puzzle hasn't even been touched it way too long. And it still drives me up the walls. Project Compass is dead in the water.

I've been very interested in wormholes because of the changes in Odyssey, hell the idea was "this is our odyssey" it's about exploration. I'm kinda confused if the AJ project is even "running". I can't get a clear answer, I'd hate to start spending hours trying to figure out a pattern to the wormhole Locus information and just have the devs go: "Oh, hey you know we're not doing anything with that and it's just some numbers."

Are these still lore based or are we not renaming systems to avoid real world events. Where does the RP line end?

I understand that the focus is going to go with the current story line. With Caldari Prime event (which really needed to happen) I was super stoked to hear that. I can't wait for the next event and the next chapter in the eve lore.

I just really love the story of wormholes and am so ready to start exploring the deeper story behind them, I just don't even know if there's dev support behind it.

\o/ I don't know where I go from here.

The Devs have said they will not pick up the AJ project at this point, but haven't ruled out working it all out themselves at some stage then resuming it. The issue is they don't know any more than the players do from what I understand. There are no master notes about what was the actual truth, as player knowledge is always suspect that they got it wrong.

That makes it sound like the AJ project was a large RP run between the players and the devs. Interesting but I'm sad it ended

In some of the hisec Sansha events, there was some sort of WH or jump technology employed in which the storyline reports that capsuleers are somehow probing through to the other side. I forget the details now, but I'm sure you guys have it all written down. Well, just open that WH/gate. Start the event in hisec, port people through. I guess there would be some questions about people camping the WH side or something similar.

Or maybe two starting points, one for each side of a battle that takes place in the WH. Each side has a CCP person running it. Then they can coordinate putting everyone into the WH at the same time to eliminate the initial barrier of people camping the entry point.

Just some thoughts.

Rather good idea. To expand on it... Concord sends out a call to rally in x systems , 1 or 2 in each empire space and maybe 1 in connecting low sec systems. Concord reveals they have reverse engineered the sansha wormhole technology and they have a target wormhole system which is unannounced before taking the players there.

Actually it was all in the hands of one Dev who left years ago. So the remaining Devs have no more idea what was going on behind the scenes than any of the most involved players do. And they may have made wrong assumptions and the Dev never corrected them.

This is a good example of why documenting is essential. Anything that might have an impact on the game should be documented. This way if someone new is appointed to a project they won't have to start from zero or have the project dumped completely.

I dont know how many of you remember the last series of 'WH Live events" but they serve as perfect examples of why the current GM s are trying to hard to make it "big" and "easily acessible". As small, hard to join ones DEFINATELY come across as playing favorites, even if that was not the intention.

In case you dont know what I am referring several years aago we had 3(that I know of) special live events that we had in WH space, 2 of them happened in Aperture Harmonic's class 6, and the third some tiny russian farming corp.

1. An amarr fleet was seen in their C6 at an anomaly, they showed up on D scan and even spoke in local, this was meant to represent the amarr going in and getting the tech needed for Dust soldiers. For whatever reason AHARM didnt act on it and the event yielded no interesting interaction.

2. A helios belonging to one of the famous "missing" researchers was found in AHARM's class 6, abandoned, inside of it was a datacore containing Jovian tech and a log of her exploits and what she learned from the sleepers before she joined the sleeper society by digitalizing her soul. AHARM blew it up. nothing useful gained.

3. A Spatial rift opened up right at a POS ( on grid) containing a "jumpable" spatial rift, the russians being carebears panicced and logged off. Nothing of value was gained.

Now in the aftermath of all 3 of these many WH players expressed dissatisfaction, not only did the events yield nothing, but the vast majority of us didnt even have the chance to join in if we wanted, and the fact that 2 of them happened to the same corp led people to believe that CCP was playing favorites with AHARM.

In addition i suspect the planning and execution of these events required a good amount of planning on CCP"s behalf, and to see their work end up fruitless AND unappreciated surely didnt inspire them to continue.

that is why it is imperative that any WH live event is acessible to those who want to come, AND seems fairly balanced to all involved.

I think there was more than that.

Blazing Angels had sleepers jump a mining op, backed by Awakened Infomorph.

Awakened infomorph also appeared during an Incursion live event.

I like w-space a lot and spent some time in there on another character. So, I am keen on this. Here is my idea, feel free to destroy it and tell me how stupid I am.

Live event occurs in both W-space and k-space.
A particular faction begins to deploy ships in a large number of w-space environments in order to get ready to control and dominate w-space. For practical purposes, lets say small fleets 5-10 pilots within 10-20 systems of faction ships are randomly deployed in C-3-4-5 systems (number of ships and systems are just my arbitrary guess).
Once these fleets are discovered (combat probing required) and destroyed (maybe some faction mods in there for incentive), the main fleet (staging in some low sec system) pops cyno and attempts to attack another fleet rather than invading w-space (since those plans can no long work due to the destroyed w-space fleets).
Thus, we have a bunch of small fleets that need to be destroyed in w-space and can involve anyone who wants to get in there and find those fleets.
After which, we have an epic battle in low or null with a large invading fleet.

I am not that great at story telling and RPing, so someone can fill in the details as needed.

The reason I like this idea is because it combines the exploration kind of live event similar to the sister's photo contest (this time exclusively in w-space) with the traditional big battle low-sec event.

So, thoughts?

No loot pinatas, but you know the recent DevCaravan had it in the cargoholds of those 3 CONCORD BS that were there.
