As for the warp tunnel, I guess they could tone down the clouds slightly but otherwise I like the immersion it adds Smile
How many times must it be said - No one wants to take your glitter from you! If ccp make an on / off option problem solved. Good for you you like it and if they are turned into an option I think you do not even have to do anything since your precious animation probably is ON by default.

alternate low GFX animation option would be nice.

options are always nice.

Soooo. If the captain's quarters is to remain closed ... Why don't you look away for another game?

While the quarters were causing people harm through their computer rigs, many have experienced ill effects with this graphics. Simply telling people to look away is not the best answer.

It would be similar if CCP decided that each destroyed ship had close-ups of burn victims, body parts and mutilations floating in space, and other graphic images to promote the ~immerse~ gaming aspects. Could people say, "If the pictures are so nauseating ... Why don't you look away from the monitor?"

Just a wild thought.

Personally I love the new jump animation. My computer is not even new pushing 5 years now and it runs 4 clients all jumping at once with silky smoothness.

I regularly alt-tab and hold alt just so I can watch it on 4 small screens at once (Windows 7) if I know me any my alts are all going to hit a gate at once. Seriously. It truly is the best part of the expansion!

Beats the hell out of the new launcher anyway...

You wouldn´t like it if you would do lots of jumps regularly, i guess. The jump animation sucks anyway. Shocked

Already doing it. And it's a pita. Playing a computer game should necessitate this.

Additionally, I'm pissed at the intrusive autoscan graphics. I never really had an y problems finding plexes in space using my own panning. Now I am treated to large obscuring circles and color diamonds that only get in the way. And there is no way to turn off this not needed not wanted feature for me (having to do it every jump is not a solution). And the tron in space radar wave has to go.

All this mandatory graphics that are either nauseating or extremely annoying make jumping through a gate and having a fight harder. I want to look forward to jumping through a gate to see what's on the other side. I don't want to hate it.

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

Any time art interferes with game play it rubs gamers the wrong way. This case is more than that, as this art makes players nauseated. When you can get physically sick, yeah, it's a valid complaint.

Personally, to me, the animation is too low key. My healer in WoW is 10x more shiny. Shocked So if CCP wants to up the ante on animations, there's plenty of examples on YouTube from other MMOs, and not just with portals.

I'm not seeing any problems here and I'm not sure why the jump animation should look like healers in WoW (I didn't follow that at all). All I'm saying is I love the new animation and would much rather have it than a progress bar :D

Interesting argument, and reasonably valid, but I suspect not in the way that you anticipated.

You see, if CCP were to introduce an art asset into the game (any art asset) that most people found offensive, then it would probably be changed. After all, they want to stay in business. However, if very very few people found it offensive, then changing it wouldn't likely be a high priority goal. Sort of like jump animations.

You can't please everyone, and there is generally no profit in trying to do so. CCP has stated that they are looking into improving the animation, and this is a reasonable response to the issue. Tears and threadnaughts aren't likely to speed up the process, or alter the end result.

So just wote for option on/off and just don't touch anything when "on" is probably default!

Lord almighty this community is getting worst and worst.....by that I mean it seems more and more people whine and b**** about everything lately, from this to ccp's hiring practices of late Twisted.

What happened to the mature community eve was when I first started playing 10 years ago Ugh

So, a month later, and 1000 posts later, we have not really moved anywhere.

EVE still insists on spinning me and sending me down the drain. I still feel nauseous after 15-20 jumps (not that I even play much anymore).

Amazingly, the developers are still defending their design decision:

CCP Sisyphus wrote:
Just a thought - why am I not getting requests to turn off the warp tunnel?
It has EXACTLY the same reasoning behind it, and should we ever achieve our dream of multi node handling for a single system, it would probably serve the exact same purpose.

Yes the jump tunnel is sub-par, so we are working on improving it.

Dear CCP Sisyphus, many thanks for actually posting in this thread.
However, you might have noticed that many people are getting physically sick from the animation, and have been for a month.

We understand that major changes, like making a cool new animation, take time.

Small changes, like giving us a checkbox for a blank screen, take less time. Small changes like that can probably be done with one of your mini-patches. This is what your customers really want. Giving us this option is not a "cop-out". It is called "caring about your paying customers".

A special message for those who are tempted to make yet another "look away from the screen", "weak", and "I like the new animation" post. Please keep it (and this thread) constructive. If you like the animation, good for you! Nobody is trying to change YOUR gameplay. Instead, please explain how CHOICE in this matter is a BAD THING.

Nvmd. thought for a bit the animation had been made better. then i played some more. it takes an hour or two but it's still headache inducing. and i still end up looking away, esp. at the start of it. damn. too bad.

well, no worries. i'm still optimistic it will all get fixed. Smile

I can imagine someone looking at the warp tunnels gets an instant seizure, and they sue CCP.

All CCP replies is: "Awesome. Did you make it into a Harlem Shake video?"

The levels of Awsomium CCP would get from that.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

Where did I say I would have a problem with that?

I would much rather an option to turn off the bright-as-the-sun background nebula first though.
