The cans that come out after doing the hacking

I am doing better now I think with getting the drifting cans of loot, I can get maybe four instead of two.

But I just did a site and when I finished hacking and the cans floated out none of them ever turned green or even yellow. I couldn't get any of them to be tractored to me. I kept clicking on them, nothing happened.

And it was upsetting because this hack site had a really good blueprint loot in it and I wanted at least a chance to get it. But none of the cans would respond, they stayed white.

Is this a bug?

No, you were out of range. Sit right on top of the spew can and when the lewt bukkake happens get ready to grab the right cans for what you want. If any cans that you want turn white double click them and your ship will start moving towards them.

OHHH I get it now ! *D'oh! Facepalm* The cans are ID'd as to generally what's riding in them! I was just grabbing at random!

Thanks!

So, do the cans shoot out in a circle around the hacked object or do they shoot out towards the ship that hacked it? Should I orbit at 500 or something?

Be as close as possible, dont orbit. Observe and learn how certain types produce their loot and at what points. (ie pay attention).

SINGLE CLICK a container when it is green. Always single click.

You can only tractor containers 1 at a time

You cannot click a next container when they are yellow (or white)

You can only click a new container to grab when it is green and within 2500 (or 3000?)m (2.5km / 3km)

OK, I am only basing this on my observations, not hard fact. But it appears to me that just before the cans are 'spewed' you will see a large plume of steam/smoke animation. The bulk of the cans will be jetted in that direction. Expect a few to go in a random direction too, but by and large, the biggest majority will follow the direction of the plume.

As to the plume of gas, for want of a better term (really stale air??) this is correct.

However, you all should know that the containers can and will spew forth, in two different directions, at the same time.

I think CCP wanted this to happen so we'd all have to take a buddy along.

If you take a buddy along, get them to bring combat probes, to scan for cloaked ships at the site.

PVP ambushes, at sites, are becoming very popular due to the hacking minigame taking up most of your screen.

Also (if you didn't know already) you can use a cargo scanner to scan the structure prior to hacking it to find out what is in it. This allows you to pick what container to scoop up knowing you'll max your time/loot.
