Agents using faction standing instead of corp standing?

I am attempting to raise my standing with Chemal Tech, a Gallente based corp.

My standing with the Gallente faction is -5.02 with Diplomacy 3 from -7.06.
My standing with Chemal Tech corp is 2.10 with Connections 3 from 1.03.

Looking at http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Agents, "Access to Agents is determined based on your Standing with the agents faction or corporation, whichever is higher."

Based on that, I should have access to lvl 2 agents at this point, however I don't. When I try and talk with agents, their effective standing shows up as -5.1.

So, when your faction standing is negative, does that overide the corp standing for agent availability?

If you have agent, corp, or faction standing below -2.0 you are limited to level 1 missions. Once all three are above -2.0 your highest standing takes over.

Wow... that kinda sucks.

Doing lvl 1 missions would take forever to get up to 6.67 corp standing, guess I should just forget this plan.

You only need to get to -2 faction standing and then the corp standings will take over. What that link should say is: agent access is determined by the best of either agent, corp, or faction standing, provided that the faction standing is -1.99 or greater.

Train up Diplomacy to level 5 asap.

Also check out 'The Plan'

It will help a lot.

Is it the same for pirate factions?, i would like to run missions for sansha and i started with -10 faction standing, and after 20 level 1 missions my efficient agent standing is still -7.5.

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

Yes, train up Diplomacy to level 5 asap. That will raise -10.00 Faction standing up to -6.00 Faction standing which will reduce the amount of grinding needed. Also train up the Social skill to gain an increase in standings received for completing missions. If you're going to do missions for the Pirate Factions, train up Criminal Connections to increase your effective standing with the Pirates.

The quickest way is if you have the required standing to start the level 4 Amarr Epic Arc and switch sides to Sansha halfway through it to gain a very good Faction standing increase upon completion.

Required Standing
+5.00 or higher Amarr Empire Faction standing
or
+5.00 or higher Ministry of Internal Order Corporation standing with -2.00 or higher Faction standing

Another way which takes longer is to access and complete the level 3 Guristas Epic Arc.

Required Standing
+3.00 or higher Caldari State, Gallente Federation or Guristas Faction standing
or
+3.00 or higher Ytiri, Federal Intelligence Office or Guristas Corporation standing with -2.00 or higher Faction standing

Train up the same skills listed above. After completing the Epic Arc, Complete the Guristas Cosmos Agents - http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0911/Carebear_COSMOS_Extreme_v1.2.pdf

Completing that will give you positive derived standing gains towards Sansha, allowing access to higher level agents.

The longest way is to continue grinding 16 level 1 Sansha missions to get a Storyline mission until you get above -2.00 Faction standing to allow access to high level agents..

Good luck to you.
