Idea for new Gameplay mechanic: Explosive Mining.

The following is my idea for a new gameplay mechanic. Please bare in mind I'm a relatively new player who has only recently returned to an account that has been inactive for quite some time.

Part 1: The Explosive Mining Skill: Allows the use of Explosive Mining Torpedo Launchers & Torpedoes.

Part 2: Explosive Mining Launchers and Torpedoes: (Torpedo specific to and only effective for one asteroid type. i.e Veldspar, Scordite, etc)

Part 3: How it works: A high level Mining skill requiring high level mining, industry and combat skill prerequisites. Allows for faster mining or resource destroying for corporation warfare. All asteroids have a set number of hit-points that can be reduced to zero through the repeated firing of Explosive Mining Torpedoes. Once asteroids are destroyed the contents (whatever the asteroids yield was) can be tractor beamed or scooped into the ships cargo/ore hold. If contents are left alone they disappear after x number of minutes/hours due to spacial drift.

Part 4: Warfare: Hit them where it hurts: Explosive Mining allows for a new guerrilla warfare based tactic where a player, group or corporation can attack the resources and therefore source of isk of another. Imagine if you will, small, but highly trained teams of players capable of destroying and removing all the resources in a belt owned by their sworn enemy in a matter of minutes. These hit em' and rob em' blind tactics would reshape the Eve Universe and give it one hell of a shake up.

Part 5: Additional thoughts: Extra Skill needed to actually harvest the remains of destroyed asteroids. Explosive Mining Harvesting?

Extra Scanning Skill and Visual Gameplay Dynamic similar to that of Planetary Resource Harvesting that allows for a higher yield while using Explosive Mining Torpedoes. Asteroid Cracking?

Extra Drones and Drone Skill. Captures resources from destroyed asteroids and returns them to cargohold of ship. Asteroid Debris Capturing Drones?

Extra Torpedo Skill & Gameplay Dynamic. Gas Destroying. A torpedo that causes gas clouds to detonate destroying all resource potential and damaging anything within x number radius for x number damage type. Gaseous Devastation?

...and I think that's just about everything in a nutshell.

Any and all constructive criticisms and ideas are welcome.

Thank you for reading.

I think that maybe "explosive mining" is a great place to start sharing the spew mechanic around a bit. When the rock explodes, you have to chase down the fragments of it. No skill training either.

Attrition Warfare! Oh my Zod! Thank you.

I could not remember that term when writing this, but that's exactly what I was trying to convey.

Man that would be cool actually. If we added this to the concept of multiple ores per rock, we could completely reinvent the entire industrial experience in EVE.

What if this was an alternative to mining with a laser? Using a missile to destroy a rock would net less ore but be much faster than using a mining laser. Say about 50% less ore when destroyed.

I think there might be interesting ways of doing something like this. For example making the result of "destroying" an asteroid being it yielding a more profitable to mine fragment with a limited lifetime that is owned by the person that destroyed the asteroid, mining a fragment owned by someone else could then be an action that causes suspect flagging.

That would create some interesting gameplay and make it both a useful mining tool and a way to deny access to ore to NPC corp mining characters. It'd also provide a interesting point of conflict.

I'm in favor of anything that would make miners get mad at eachother and/or allow people to do things to make miners super frustrated.
