Security IV missions Without Spoiling Standings?

I wan to be a Mission Runner as my primary source of income/standings/fun in the PvE game in EVE, but I'm worried about trashing my standings with other factions.

Right now I'm working for the Caldari Navy/Caldari Business Tribunal, because it seems like they have a nice assortment of IV and V agents on the Security side, but I notice my Minmatar and Gallente faction standings are getting hit pretty hard.

Is there anything I can do besides tags and/or doing different missions? Is there a "safe" route toward IV and V Security missions without trashing my standing in the process?

Decline missions that are against another faction.
Also, either a) don't do storyline missions OR b) balance them out by working for two factions.

Finally, the Navy is rumored to have more missions against other factions, while more "civilian" corps have more missions against pirates, so it might not be the best corp to run missions for. (But than, the rumor might be wrong.)

Balancing out the standings hits is fairly (read: incredibly) simple :) first, do what that guy said ^

Just make sure you don't get too low, and every now and then spend some time getting your bombed standings to around 0 again.

Won't declining missions have a huge impact on my ability to generate standings with the corp I'm actually working towards?

if you dont want to decline and lose standing with agent you can always find a corp that has Multi vl 4 agents in a system

If you decline 2 missions within 4 hours then you'll lose standings. Check the mission reports at EVE Survival as many of them have notes about standings losses. As well as having a corp with multiple L4 agents, that hopefully are close together, you should also work for multiple corporations. So when you get a situation where you have 2 missions back to back that you need to decline, you can let the 4hr timer elapse before you decline the second one, and still have other agents you can work for so your game time isn't interrupted.

Thanks kindly for the tips.

Should I be considering the presence of Level V agents? I never hear anyone mention them. Are they a non-issue? Are Level V missions not a viable goal?

Level V missions are a completely different beast because a) they cannot be done solo and b) they are all in low-sec.
So you need a fleet and be willing to play under the constant thread of players turning up to kill you.

There are people who run them. But most PvE pilots prefer to stay in high-sec, which means that those who want to PvE in a fleet go from lvl IV missions directly to incursions.

- Decline missions where you kill ships from one of the four factions if you want to avoid losing standings with them...do missions against pirate npc instead.

- For caldari, go work for Internal Security for awhile

- Rotate to do some missions for all the factions in turn

- level V missions are for small fleets mostly and in space where people like to shoot shiny mission ships...don't do them unless you have a group watching your back and/or like to dodge danger (can be fun...)

- try out the epic arcs. Only the Sisters of Eve epic arc is a starter arc, the rest of them are about equivalent to level 4.4 missions, pay ok, and the story is at least better than Twilight.
