This "turn jump animations off" thread has gone on so long - here is a good article highlighting some great functionality the animation brings. This is especially interesting for those of us in TiDi intense systems and large fleets.

Jump Animation as a tool

Pretty much extends to all the "War on Loading Screens" initiativ. I for one love the new direction and the functions the article goes over, especially since I, like the author spend quite a bit of time in TiDi during the fun in Fountain. I wish the other Undocking/Ship/pod did some more things also. Maybe even throw in an ejection of liquid and the death-throw-freezing process of the corps.

Overall, I love CCP for this.

The overall consensus of the article seems to be "it can be done better" and should have been before it was brought to tranquility. Had that been the case there would likely have been less of an uproar.

I'm just amazed everyone makes such a big deal about a new animation (other than people who legitimately get motion sick).

The article brings up some good points though, especially in regards to finally knowing when your jump spam has registered on a lagged node.
