Suggestion: possible new POS module -> Personal Ore Hold Array

Hello all,

with the new personal variations of corporate hangars, and soon ship maintenance arrays, there is one thing that i found would be very useful:

Personal Ore Hold Array

As a corporation mainly mining with only POS as storage available, i noticed that it fast gets hard to track which ore belongs to what member, as the storage capabilities for different members is just very limited on POS modules, especially as it is impossible to use containers within them. The new Personal Hangar Arrays are great, and a huge relief to any POS only based corporation in nullsec or wormhole space. But lets face it, 50k m³ for a miner, just doesn't get you anywhere. Those are not even 2 Mackinaw loads, and it is filled to the brink.

There are modules that offer more space, yet there you have the limit of only very few different subsections, that are also dependent to what of those the members have access to. Without containers, there would basically be a maximum of 8 members that can mine per such a module.

A solution for that could be a Personal Ore Hold Array, that like the ore holds in mining barges, exhumers, orcas and rorquals can only take ores, ice and compressed ores. An array that gives each member a huge storage amount of around 5-10 million m³ but that is only useful for mining.

Seeing how every possible empty space on our POS clutters with ore of our different mining members, it would be something i would love seeing making its way into eve. I am sure other mining/industrial corporations face similar "where to store our ores" kind of problems as we do.

Somehow you manage, but with all those new shiny personal modules making the POS life of all of us easier, this may be a very useful addition to have in my eyes, and one that may fit into the eve universe quite well. With the changes and iterations to mining, making it more interesting, overworking it, i feel that this should be a part, that should be considered as well. After all, all my fun in mining is fast gone, when i have nowhere to put my freshly mined shiny ore.

Thanks for reading, and would be nice to get some feedback.

I hoped for some more constructive replies..... that one looks more like "we will get rid of your tower all together"

This would result in ore being stored in a POS, in amounts requiring a cap ship to move with any speed or efficiency.

This creates risk, in that the tower is storing valuable items which are difficult to move on short notice.
Sometimes short notice is all you get when hostiles decide to reinforce and attack.

It could be interesting.

EVE is always about deciding what kind of risk you want to take. Be lazy, and take a higher risk, cause you store everything at the POS, to only transport larger volumes away... or see if you can get everything shipped as it gets mined.

With nullsec space getting upgraded production wise, encouraging people to directly produce or research in nullsec, some more "raw material storage room" would still make a lot sense.

I'd go further than just making personal ore hangars. Hangars and refineries should be able to interface with each other and work like reactor arrays for gases. With the personal ore hangars, players should be able to queue up jobs at a refinery or reactor so that it will take materials from the input hangar, run the job and move the products to an output hangar. Then rinse and repeat for the next job in the queue.

Well thanks for the support Swiftstrike - but looks like this idea finds no larger support.

Wonder if storing so much material is too risky for most, or if there are just only few miners/manufacturers that can only work with POS. Would assume most have stations or outposts available, what makes it a lot easier..
