If Eve goes Nerf, what is left?

Honestly, eve is the only game in the market that provides a truly brutal, ruthless environment. Why is CCP willing to give this niche up, just to have access to the PvE kids who dont want any risk at all? Those kids will get bored and move on to one of the hundreds of games that cater to their style.

There is not a single game on the market that provides what eve does. This is why eve has had such a hardcore / cult following. It has catered to a specific play style that demanded absolute freedom and lawlessness. And now that is being taken away, bit by bit.

With all the nerfs to PvP'res lately, eve's hostile environment is rapidly turning into a friendly hugs-n-kisses type of game. It might not ever reach the point where it looks like WOW, but the current trend is absolute proof that CCP is siding with the PvE camp.

Insurance is gone for gankers. Cant wardec highsec corps anymore. Pirates can be booted from corp before they kill their target leaving them to deal with concord,
Even the expansions lately have almost entirely focused on the Carebears... Planetary Interaction, Incursions, Epic Arcs, etc. The only thing pvp'ers got was Sov changes, which was seriously in need of love anyways (and still is)

I think this is absolute evidence that CCP is siding with the carebears, and screwing the hardcore PvP crowd that allowed eve to progress as far as it has. Nearly every change has benefited the bears, and screwed the PvP people over. CCP thinks they can throw us a few battlecruisers to keep us quiet while they gimp eve down into WOW-In-Space.

I've seen videos of CCP employees talking about them never gimping eve down, but from all these patch changes, it seems they're saying what we want to hear as they walk away from us

If CCP had more growth because of catering to bears than by catering to gank...err...."hardcore PVP" crowds then it seems like the right thing to do.

Did you expect them to lose money for you?

It is a business. It is not a charity.

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

Right, and thats fine. If thats the direction they want to take eve in, thats their right. However, i expect to be informed of this.

They are telling us every day how hostile eve is, how ts not safe anywhere... They even have videos on youtube where developers say infront of the camera they wont be nerfing eve down like this... BUT THEY ARE.

CCP needs to decide which way they're going and tell us. Otherwise they're just misleading us to keep our subscriptions while they change over to a new player base, and that is extremely offensive

CCP said one thing, your tinfoil said another.

You believe tinfoil.

Either way you have been informed about the direction EVE is taking.

But the balaning happening this expansion is for the hardcore pvp crowd. It's the carebears that are whining over the coming "nerfs"

Eve has become to carebear friendly, and the changes coming make pvp more "hardcore"

your op is confusing me. : (

The new changes dont make pvp any more hardcore at all. They just fixed Hybrids which benifit pve and pvp both. All the other changes have a negative effect on PvP. Let me list all the PvP things that are no longer possible:

- Infiltrate a corp and gank their orca? (Cant do this anymore, you will be booted from corp mid-gank and then concord shows up to finish you off)
- Suicide Gank people in highsec? (You still can, but now it encourages blobs of thrashers, instead of 1 or 2 tempests / solo style ganking)
- Mercenary work? (You cant wardec people anymore, leaving highsec perfectly immune to wardecs and non-suicide attacks)
- Blowing up POS's for profit? (The already hard task of killing highsec POSs with subcaps is made worse by the fact you cant even wardec these corps anymore)
- Titans cant DD subcaps, Supercarriers cant really kill subcaps ether (These two kinda make you wonder why any of the races bothered developing supercapital ships)
- Numerous concord buffs over the years and another coming up

What exactly about this is making PvP more hardcore? Its just making it harder.

Hardcore EVE people are better than any other type. Why does CCP continue to make EVE easier for the non hardcore?

It's like they've sucked the hardcore right out of the game when non hardcore people are catered for. EVE is only about hardcore people, everyone knows this. It's starting to move toward an EVE that just is not hardcore enough for hardcore people. I can't believe CCP are willing to give up on the only people that matter in EVE.

*Sigh*
The insurance removal from suicide ganks is just a very slight change. You'll still be able to suicide-gank defenseless ships for lulz or whatever turns you on. You'll just need to be a tiny bit more careful when choosing your targets. That's it. It really isn't something to cry about. With the new changes to destroyers your profession is still virtually risk-free.

Jeez, the tears. Do we need a hug-a-griefer day to make you feel better? You're gonna be alright, man.

Now hang on, I seem to remember dozens of dozens of hisec suicide gankers telling me to HTFU and adapt or die, and now they're complaining that their way of life is ruined and for CCP to please help them.

But that would make them massive ****ing hypocrites, so that can't be right.

I see what you did there. Big smile

In all seriousness though, the truly hardcore are not the type to sit back and whine because their job is more challenging. The truly hardcore will step up their game and find new ways to inflict chaos and ruin on their carebear victims. A few patches won't stop human creativity and force of will.

Adapt or die. Your whining is giving pvpers a bad name. The real hardcore players will find ways to work around the changes as they come. The real hardcore players don't whine like a carebear when they can't have the advantage 100% of the time.
